IABC OPENS STATE COLLEGE CHAPTER
STATE COLLEGE, Pa., Jan. 23 The International Association of

Business Communicators will open a new chapter Monday, Jan. 25, located at

300 College Ave. in State College. The grand opening will run from 12-9 p.m. to

allow both college students and professionals in the field of business or

communications the opportunity to learn more about the association. Food and

light refreshments will be served at the event.

Dianne Lynn Chase, vice chair of the IABC, will attend the grand

opening and will be available to answer prospective members questions.

The IABC was founded in 1970, and currently has about 12,000

members from more than 80 countries. The association is open to college

students, graduates, working professionals and corporate team members.

Previously, the closest chapter was located in Harrisburg.

The IABC is an excellent way for business communicators to connect,

learn and benefit from other members around the world. The dues to join are $49

for students, $254 for professionals and the corporate dues are offered in various

packages found on the IABC website.

The association offers programs such as Job Centre, where members can

discover new careers by keyword, location or job type and find hundreds of

communication jobs for various experience levels. The IABC Academy also

hosts online workshops for members through multiple weekly sessions. The

workshops offer in-depth learning to build critical skills and gain knowledge and

instruction from leading experts in the communications and business fields. This

instruction allows members to obtain long-term problem-solving skills to enhance

their careers.

St. Louis Chapter President-Elect John Hastings was asked what the best

thing about being a member was. Access to an incredible pool of resources and

colleagues, said Hastings. IABC members can get smart in a hurry on all

communications topics.
