3: Hazard identification
Inhalation: Damaging effects on the mucous membrane and upper respiratory tract. May cause lung
edema, nausea, vomiting and drowsiness
Skin: Corrosive, redness, pain, severe burns can occur.
Eyes: Corrosive, material can cause blurred vision, redness, pain and severe tissue burns. Can
Ingestion: Corrosive, material can cause severe burns of the mouth, throat and stomach. Large doses will
cause vomiting, diarrhea, rapid respiratory and heart rate, leading to collapse and
unconsciousness with convulsions. Death from respiratory arrest or cardiovascular collapse
may follow.
Carcinogenicity: Inadequate data on which to classify in terms of carcinogenicity in humans and/or animals

4: First aid measures


Inhalation: Remove to fresh air; if necessary give artificial respiration or oxygen. Contact a physician.
Skin: Immediately flush with plenty of water, remove contaminated clothes. Residual acid can be
neutralized with 2% NaHCO3 (sodium bicarbonate solution). Contact a physician.
Eyes: Flush with plenty of water including under eyelids. Contact a physician.
Ingestion: Contact immediately an emergency medical center

5: Fire fighting measures

Extinguishing media: Dry chemical, foam, carbon dioxide (CO2). Do not use water on material. Product will react
with water releasing chlorine gas. Do not use dry ammonium compound or carbon
tetrachloride type extinguishers.
Unusual fire and explosion: Liquid will react with most metals to yield flammable hydrogen gas. Use care not to ignite
hazards: hydrogen gas. Toxic gases and vapors may be released if involved in fire.
Protection and procedures Wear fully protective clothing, including rubber gloves, chemical suit, rubber protective
for firefighters: footwear and self-contained breathing apparatus with full face piece, operated in the positive
mode.

6: Accidental release measures


Personal precautions: Appropriate personal protection equipment, keep unprotected persons at distance.
Environmental precautions: Isolate spill area, neutralize with 2% NaHCO3 (sodium bicarbonate solution), do not flush into
sewer. Absorb spill with sand or universal binder, place in chemical container for disposal.
Containment techniques: Absorb spill with liquid-binding material (e.g. sand, universal binder, diatomaceous earth).
Evacuation procedures: -
Reporting requirements: Report to national and/or local authorities when material is entered into the sewage system or
soil.

warnings : Avoid any eye or skin contact. Wash thoroughly after handling. Do not smoke, eat or drink.
