PLAGIARISM

1. Question: Plagiarism is commonly referred to as?


Answer: It is usually referred as the passing off of another persons work as
ones own.

2. Question: How will students work be checked for plagiarism?


Answer: Teachers will use a website called Turnitin to check for plagiarism as
well as compare students work to see if they are alike.

3. Question: What are some sanctions (penalties) for plagiarising work?


Answer: Some consequences could be receiving a zero on the assignment; a
note on the students record; and an expulsion from the course they are
taking.

4. Question: What is the difference between accidental plagiarism and


deliberate plagiarism?
Answer: Accidental plagiarism is when the student is unclear of what is
considered to be plagiarism or forgets to cite or give credit to the author.
Deliberate plagiarism is when the student knows of what plagiarism is and
doesnt care and hopes that the teacher doesnt find out.

5. Question: How can you avoid plagiarism, while still integrating support (ideas
and quotes) in your own work?
Answer: You can cite your work; you can quote the part you took; or you can
reference your work to avoid plagiarism.
