Project Objectives

The idea is to coordinate ongoing creative workshops in Dance, Theatre, Music and Multimedia for creative
young people (ages 16-24 approx) living in Greater Western Sydney. (At no cost to participants)

The project aims to cultivate skills, inspire dreams and provide creative opportunities for young people to
further their passions into education and employment.

Experienced trainers with recent “industry experience” who have a heart to see positive change in the lives
of young people will facilitate the program and be assisted by a Fusion Youth Worker.

Project Overview

Participants can expect about 5 x 1-hour intensive sessions per day with lots of breaks in between. All food
and drinks will be provided at no cost to participants. Each stream will aim to produce and perform original
pieces at the Sunday Night Showcase where participants are encouraged to invite their family and friends
to come along to The FUSION Mission Centre and watch the presentations, free of charge. Audio and video
of the Sunday Night Showcase will be recorded and distributed to each participant. (Allow 3-4 weeks)

An Introduction to Fusion Australia Ltd (Western Sydney)

Who is Fusion?

Fusion is an international youth and community development organisation – working to bring young people,
their families and communities together with hope for over 45 years.

Fusion has centres in all Australian states and in countries such as the United States, the U.K, Canada,
Africa, China, Germany, Jamaica, India and Indonesia to name a few. Fusion centres exist mostly through
the work and dedication of volunteers and through the financial generosity of community supporters and
some government initiatives.

Who is Fusion Western Sydney?

Fusion Western Sydney is one of eight centres in NSW. Fusion Western Sydney’s key activities are in Youth
Work, Supported Youth Accommodation, Accredited Youth and Community Work (CIII) training and Home
and Community Care for the elderly and disabled.

What is the “Fusion Mission Centre?”

The Fusion Mission Centre is located in the heart of St Marys business district and is the site of the old St
Marys Bowling Club. The Centre is currently undergoing renovation to become a multi-purpose community
centre and a hub of creative, social, entrepreneurial, developmental and educational activity for Western
Sydney.

At present, Fusion Western Sydney’s offices are located in North St Marys.

Note on safety. The renovations are being carried out in stages, leaving some areas unsuitable for use. The
areas which participants are using are all completely safe, although participants will need to be aware of their
surroundings and will receive a safety briefing prior to commencement.

Focus on the Youth Arts Project

Fusion Arts Project is an integral part of the Youth Services. It works to provide the young people of Western
Sydney with resources, ideas and opportunities to be creative. Young people who access our youth services
are provided with free creative activities like “Garage Band” digital music production, “Photo Safari” photo
scavenger hunts, “Photo booth” image manipulation workshops, “Comic Life” comic book production
activities as well as more traditional mediums such as painting and sculpture.

The Fusion Arts Project also coordinates “Creative Work Experience” programmes in Photography, Film and
Graphic Design.

Fusion Arts is committed to helping young people get access to creative opportunities to express
their talents, skills and interests while encouraging education and employment. It also aims to
facilitate the integration of participants into healthy friendships and positive experiences, helping
them to become contributing members of their community.
