THE TABLE (english)
(Bruce is at the doctors office
reception. Hes shifting in his chair
nervously. He looks around the office wall
to wall. His lips are moving as if he is taking
deep breaths in and out. He sees the coffee
table, he stands, takes the table and moves
it away from him)
MEDICAL SECRETARY:
It is the shift of the number nine
, Sr bruce cortez
BRUCE: (he stands and goes to the
reception desk) Yes, its me.
MEDICAL SECRETARY: good day
Please come in, Mr
The doctor is waiting for you.
BRUCE: Thanks.
DR. LIER: Good afternoon.
BRUCE: Good afternoon, doctor.
DR. LIER: Please sit down, (Bruce
sits) and tell me what can I do for you.
BRUCE: (nervously) I have a serious
problem, doctor, and I dont know what
to do. I am really worried!.
DR. LIER: Tell me whats wrong.
BRUCE: I cant eat anything, doctor.
DR. LIER: Do you have a problem
chewing, or swallowing the food?.
BRUCE: None. I cant eat at my dinner
table. Thats the problem. The table!.
DR. LIER: Whats wrong with your
table?.
LA MESA (espaol)
(BRUCE est en la recepcin del consultorio
mdico. Esta nervioso y movindose continuamente en
la silla. Tiene las manos entrelazadas y mira hacia todos
lados en el consultorio. Mueve sus labios como si
estuviera inhalando y exhalando aire. Ve la mesa de
centro del consultorio, se levanta de la silla, agarra la
mesa y la mueve lejos de l)
SECRETARIA:

BRUCE: (se levanta) Soy yo seorita.
SECRETARIA: buenos das

BRUCE: Gracias
DR. : Buenas tardes.
BRUCE: Buenas tardes, doctor.
DR. TRANZADO: Sintese, por favor. (Sal se
sienta) En que puedo ayudarlo?.
BRUCE: (nervioso) Es que tengo un grave problema
y ya no se qu hacer. Estoy realmente muy
angustiado.
DR. : Dgame que es lo que le pasa.
BRUCE: No puedo comer nada doctor, y esto es
desesperante!.
DR. : Tiene usted problemas para masticar, o para
pasarse la comida?.
BRUCE
: Ninguno de los dos. No puedo comer en la mesa
de mi cocina. Ese es el problema!.
DR. TRANZADO: Qu pasa con su mesa?.
BRUCE: Every time Im getting ready to
eat, I think theres someone under the
table. Im really scared, and this is
making me crazy.
DR. LIER: Mmmm
BRUCE: Whats wrong with me,
doctor?.
DR. LIER: I cant give you a diagnosis
right now. Ill have to run some tests,
and after that, you will begin your
treatment.
BRUCE: How long will it take me to get
well?.
DR. LIER: That depends on you. You

is a long-term process so dont expect
any instant solutions to you problem.

DR. TRANZADO: Claro que s!. Todos sus temores
y fobias desaparecern. Pero debe advertirle, que
usted no debe de faltar a ninguna consulta, ya que
si interrumpe su tratamiento, no mejoraran sus
sntomas, y habr un retraso en su
recuperacin. Esta claro?.
BRUCE
: Si, lo entiendo perfectamente. Cundo
podremos empezar?.
DR. TRANZADO: Lo espero maana para realizarle
las pruebas psicomtricas. Es importante evaluar la
presencia de ciertas condiciones.
BRUCE
