Fault Code 1358

Accelerator Pedal or Lever Position Sensor 1 Circuit - Voltage Above Normal or Shorted to High Source

PID(P), SID(S): Sensor 1 Circuit - Voltage Above derate.
SPN: 91 Normal or Shorted to High Source.
FMI: 3 High voltage detected at
Lamp: Amber accelerator pedal or lever position
SRT: sensor 1 circuit.

Circuit Description:
The accelerator pedal or lever position sensor is attached to the accelerator pedal. The accelerator pedal or lever position
sensor sends a signal to the electronic control module (ECM) when the accelerator pedal is depressed and released. The
accelerator pedal or lever position circuit contains three wires: accelerator pedal or lever position 5 volt supply (sensor
supply 4), accelerator pedal or lever position return (sensor return 4), and accelerator pedal or lever position signal.

Component Location:
The accelerator pedal or lever position sensor is located on the accelerator pedal. Refer to the OEM service manual for
a detailed component location.

Shop Talk:
There are multiple ECMs for the engine models included in this manual. Each ECM has an individual source address that
is displayed when INSITE electronic service tool is connected. When troubleshooting a fault code, use the source
address displayed in INSITE electronic service tool to determine which ECM and circuit is affected.
If troubleshooting an intermittent accelerator problem:
The accelerator pedal or lever position sensor signal voltage can be monitored with INSITE electronic service tool while
flexing the harness to locate the intermittent connection.
Possible causes of this fault include:
Accelerator pedal or lever position signal circuit shorted to battery, or accelerator pedal or lever position 5 volt supply
(sensor supply 4)
Open accelerator pedal or lever position return (sensor return 4) circuit in the harness or connections
Accelerator pedal or lever position 5 volt supply (sensor supply 4) shorted to battery
Damaged accelerator pedal or lever position sensor.
The three wires in the accelerator position or lever sensor circuit must be twisted together.
