PLANNING OVERVIEW

Year Level Unit Title Salvation Topic Aspect of Human Development

Pre-Primary The Church Community Church Wondering at belonging to communities

Overview explanation of the content of the unit and how it explores the Salvation Topic and Development of the Human Person

The Pre-Primary unit of work the Church Community seeks to develop childrens understanding of the communities to which they belong by first getting them to reflect on the communities that they are a
part of for example, their families, school and neighbourhoods. This not only helps to make the content more relevant, but assists in the development of their religious awareness, as they reflect on the love
and sense of belonging they experience in their own lives compared with the type of love that Jesus felt and can be felt when welcomed into the Church community. From here, students look at Jesus
community, and how he not only received love but shared it with others and encourages them to do the same. The unit concludes with students wondering and reflecting on how they can belong to Gods
family the Church, by showing love to others and being inclusive of all, just as Jesus taught His followers to do.
The unit aims to explore the Salvation Topic of Church by encouraging students to reflect on how they can become members of this community, and how they can share the love that they receive here with
those around them, relating directly to the development of the human person topic, as they are encouraged to continuously relate all that they are learning to their own personal experiences.
