Hello Everyone!
Wonder We had a wonderful week last week! The students have been
working incredibly hard on their realistic fiction stories! Each child has
developed a strong story plot and their writing is rich with descriptive
Writing language. It has been such a blast to get to read their work! This week
- Realistic fiction we will experiment with different styles of story leads and the students
will begin to peer-edit each others stories.
o Writing a strong lead Last week we completed Module 1 of our math curriculum and
o Peer editing the students took the end-of-module assessment on Friday. This unit was
focused on place value and multi-digit addition and subtraction. Next
week we will begin a new unit on multiplication.
Math Last week we completed the first stage of our rock candy
experiment! Through this experiment we have been studying the 3 types
- Multi-digit Multiplication of matter, the science behind saturation, and have been learning
about and utilizing the scientific process. So far the students have
formed into group and have formulated their own unique question and
Science hypothesis, have designed their experiment and have taken preliminary
- Engineering and Design observations. Everyone is really looking forward to watching their rock
candy GROW! The students will be sharing the process and results of
o Catapult Lab their experiments using an online application called Seesaw. Seesaw is
a digital portfolio that empowers students to independently document
what they are learning in school. Students can share their learning using
Social Studies pictures, videos, drawings, text, PDFs, and links. When students add to
- Oregon Geography their seesaw journals the content can be shared with parents and
peers. You will be invited to view updates to your childs Seesaw journal
as they appear!
We are very close to finishing Wonder, our first interactive read-
aloud! This story was such a wonderful way for us to study perspective,
character development, and plot. This story has also
