RELATIVE CLAUSES (DEFINING / NON DEFINING)

1. Cross out the relative pronoun if it can be omitted.

2. DEFINING AND NON DEFINING RELATIVE CLAUSES: Make relative sentences.


Use who, which, where, when, whose or that. Omit the pronoun if possible and use
commas where necessary

1. We stopped to help a man. His car had broken down.


2. Its a new kind of car. It doesnt use petrol.
3. My new house is what I had always wanted. It has a large garden.
4. John has decided to ask for early retirement. He works in the office next to mine.
5. I like restaurants. They dont play music there.
6. At the party I met a girl. Her fathers a millionaire.
7. Shes the person. She won the competition.
8. George Street has been closed to traffic. I usually park in this street.
9. My father died in 2001. There was a terrorist attack then.
