GENERAL
For noise abatement information, contact the Noise Abatement Office.
24 hour noise abatement procedure - Turbojet and turbofan powered aircraft, turboprops over
17,000 lbs, four-engine reciprocating powered aircraft, and surplus military aircraft over 12,500 lbs
should not depart Rwys 27R and 27L or land on Rwys 9R and 9L.
Preferential Rwy use program in effect 2200 to 0600LT. All aircraft preferred North Field arrival
Rwy 27L; all aircraft preferred North Field departure Rwys 9R and 27R. If these rwys unacceptable for
safety or ATC instructions, then Rwy 11/29 must be used.
Noise abatement procedures not applicable in emergencies or whenever Rwy 11/29 is closed due to
maintenance, safety, winds or weather. Rwy 15/33 closed to Air Carrier aircraft except for taxiing
with airport operations permission.

RUNWAY INCURSION HOT SPOTS HS1

HS1 Taxiways A and B both cross Rwy 27R. Pilots sometimes mistake Taxiway A for
Taxiway B and vice versa. Verify correct taxi route.
HS2 Aircraft departing the ramp sometimes miss their turn onto Taxiway C or Taxiway D,
mistakenly proceeding onto Taxiway H or Taxiway G and ultimately Runway 9L/27R.
HS3 Complex intersection. Pilots sometimes taxi onto Runways 9L or 33 by mistake.
HS4 Area not visible from the South Tower.
