SPECIFICATION
For the cases below, this piping and valve material specification may have other
quantitative requirements than section 7 of Annex I in PED:
Higher joint coefficients for longitudinal welded pipes without 100% X-ray
Use of non listed components
Use of non listed materials
Use of materials without Charpy V-notch test
Use of allowable stress up to 90% of yield for high temperature austenitic
stainless steel
From Companys point of view, these differences do not reduce the total safety
margins set by the PED, as long as requirements set forth in ASME B31.3 and
associated NORSOK standards are fulfilled throughout the entire installation.
Contractor is responsible for any deviation to the PED, and shall ensure approval of
this specification by NB in the initial phase of the project.
Filament wound epoxy piping systems has not been included in the scope of NHs
conformity assessment to the PED. Contractor must evaluate any conflict with the
PED before implementing this material in a project.

SPECIFICATION
Overlay welding of seal contact areas shall be by use of Inconel 625 and shall cover
all static and dynamic O-ring/lip seal/C-ring contact areas in carbon steel material.
The maximum iron content at the finished surface shall be 15 weight per cent.
The purpose of the overlay welding is to protect the valve seal pockets against
corrosion and to ensure proper action and sealing for valves vulnerable to corrosion,
i.e. valves in carbon steel.
The weld shall be tested with the same tests as for the base material (MDS) and
documented that the properties of the weld metal is satisfied. One qualification is
required for each material type.
All butt welds (transition pieces) shall be 100% examined by radiography and 100%
magnetic particle or dye penetrant examined. The acceptance criteria's shall be as
ASME B31.3 or equivalent.
