REPORT
The Executive committee of Adi Shankara Boot Camp for the session 2016-17 was declared. Selection
of Executive Committee members were based on the rules stated by KSUM( Kerala Start up
Mission).
The institution expressed its pride over selection of following members of the Adi Shankara Boot
Camp for 2016 -2017.
In order to improve the effectiveness of entrepreneurship and successful operation of Adi Shankara Boot
camp(ABC) we have identified following staff members as mentors.
Record of Registrations
Having conducted continuous induction session for the engineering students in Adi Shankara Institute of En-
gineering and Technology a good number of students have shown their interest and registered themselves as
boot camp members.
The statistics shown below shows year wise registrations recorded till now. As visible, more of first year stu-
dents have enrolled for the same which is a good sign for the institution to witness the rising sun of the insti-
tution and thus the future entrepreneurs.
NASA Space App Challenge
A bag of glory bagged home by the technocrats of ASIET. A team consisting of Sooraj K S, Akash
Bhaskaran, Mohammed Sinwan and Thejus Jain, 3rd year Computer Science students from Adi
Shankara Institute of Engineering and Technology won BEST PROJECT AWARD for NASA
SPACE APPS CHALLENGE hosted by NASA & Kerala start-up mission.
It was a 48 hour hackathon at College of Engineering, Trivandrum. Over a 100 enthusiastic
participants from various colleges had challenged themselves up to bring up bright exciting
applications for space with the guidance of mentors from VSSC, IIITMK, Start-up Mission, IBM
etc.
As the name itself suggests that the participant will have to meet a number of footraces to reach to
the bundle of success there were about 50 Challenges under 6 Categories:
Earth
Space station
Journey to Mars
Solar system
Aeronautics and
Technology
The three best projects were selected under these categories. The winners received a handsome cash
prize of Rs 10,000/- on 18th June 2016 Saturday at Techno Park, Trivandrum in the presence of
CEOs of several reputed companies.
IEDC Pre-summit
IEDC has been a constant support and proved to be a backbone to every start-up venture. To have a
wider and exemplary idea on start-up missions, the two technocrats of Adi Shankara Boot Camp,
Akash Bhaskaran and Nandan A. Sudheer participated in the IEDC pre-summit at Sree Narayana
Gurukulam College of Engineering. Akash Bhaskaran was selected as a volunteer for the summit.

The Innovation Entrepreneurship development centres are small incubators promoting Innovation
and entrepreneurship from the college level itself.
Adi Shankara Boot Camp was one of the emissary boot camps which took part in the summit and
not just that but also made its name among all other boot camps by coming under top 25 enduring
boot camps. Akash Bhaskaran, Thomas Peter, Vaishnavi, Thejus Jain, Arjun H, Akhil, Sooraj K S,
Aiswarya and Bebetto Sabu participated in this IEDC summit at Trivandrum this year.
Bebetto Sabu brought glory by winning the third prize in the idea pitching competition in
association to the IEDC summit. Sooraj KS earned appreciations by giving commendable
presentation
By the help of this IEDC summit our boot camp members were inspired to strengthen the
entrepreneurship skills of students. The participants were pushed to work on a particular product
and enhance their technical skills.
Idea is a notion which is innate and never built. To be able to present an idea to a group of
intellectuals is what takes a participant of Auto nebula Idea Pitching competition to do.
Akash Bhaskaran, Sooraj K.S and Thomas Peter attended the Auto nebula idea pitching competition
at Trivandrum and brought home a cluster of mind gobbling ideas to raise the level of pitching
skills in home boot camp. The participants did not just equip the skillsets but also ensured to share
it with the peers and thus a follow up was held to do the same.
This onewell-known fact that entrepreneurs should submit an innovative business idea that
demonstrates outside-the-box thinking, an original spin to something familiar or the development of
a unique product or service that will provide new or greater value to the consumer. The two minds
equipped best of the provisions made there.
Ernakulum coordinators meeting
The active volunteers of Adi Shankara Boot Camp took an initiative to witness a precursor event
IEDC Student Coordinator Meet-up on 13th Aug, 16 at Sree Narayana Gurukulam College of
Engineering.
The coordinators witnessed a talk on basics to core start-up enterprise development. The Meet-up
was in all an interactive session wherein the volunteers were allowed to get accompanied with the
KSUM emissaries and other Ernakulum IEDC volunteers. The session was later followed by many
games which actually made the audience an active participant in the session. These games were a
potpourri of fun and also mind guzzling traces. The active workforce of Adi Shankara Boot Camp
took part in the talk and as always ensured a wave of change in the conventional boot camp
tradition.
As a part of introducing new moderations in the existing boot camp a meeting was held which
ensured presence of all the active volunteers and the existing action plan was updated.
Witnessing a great entrepreneurial spirit in the boot camp members the institution ensured to send
the willing students for the workshop on "Starting a start-up" on 17th August. The keynote features
of the workshop were to make students aware of not just victories but also of failures from where
stood many pillars of success. Akhiljyoth, Nidhin Babu, Muhammed Zafran , Arul Vyas attended
the Starting a Startup talk by Dr. K.C.Chandrasekharan Nair at Productivity house, Kalamaserry.
The workshop ensured a positive response from the participants who were considerably inspired by
the notion of the workshop. The endurance of the workshop promised rise of new leaders,
entrepreneurs and some enigmatic experts.
Akhiljyoth, Nidhin Babu, Muhammed Zafran , Arul Vyas attended the Talk
India's renowned Ethical Hacker, Information Security Researcher and Cyber Crime Consultant,
Rizwan Shaikh is one of the actively involved in providing Ethical Hacking and Information
Security training and services. Adi Shankara Institute tasted another flake of grandeur when Sir
Rizwan came down to our institution to give power pack training on Ethical hacking and
Information security.
The workshop was a 3 day session wherein every day dealt with different fields of hacking. The
students actively participated in the workshop. On the third day, a competition was conducted
wherein the winners were given away with prizes. Students were provided with a hacking kit which
contained the essentials of hacking.
On the closing of the session, Sir Rizwan expressed his happiness of being called again to the
college. An open forum was conducted at the end which beheld various genuine feedbacks of the
students. The workshop ended on a momentous note when everyone assembled for a group photo
and brought the workshop to an end.

All qualifying student projects will be invited to showcase their innovations on October 15 th of this academic
year, to be presented and awarded with best of rewards. The main objective of this competition is to allow
students to refine their ideas, meet other entrepreneurs, gain exposure in the booming entrepreneurial net-
work.
The competition gives students, faculty and alum the opportunity to work together to learn how to effective-
ly formulate and communicate the value of innovative ideas and turn them into real opportunities.
By first week of August, a briefing session on what is the challenge was conducted. The
registration to the challenge was made open.
A pre- mentoring session was conducted for all the teams. The boot camp provided in-
mail support to all the teams which increased their confidence.
Over 100 abstracts of the projects were received by the end of the month.
On 7th September, 2016, a one-to-one session was conducted for all the teams by the
internal panel members
Poster week was conducted in the week following wherein each team designed created
innovative posters.
The later week witnessed a video week, where all the students made videos and presented
them before the internal panel.
On October 5th and 6th the Evaluation by the internal panel members was conducted
wherein final 22 teams were shortlisted for the final evaluation by external panel members.
The final external evaluation was conducted was conducted on 14th October, 2016. The
panel members came from esteemed companies and organizations.
The award ceremony to be conducted on October 15th, 2016, the 85thbirth anniversary.
With the journey of Innovation Challenge, Adi Shankara Boot Camp proved to be the Best
Entrepreneurship Development Cell in South India over social media.
The main objective of carrying out this innovation challenge was to inculcate the idea of
project development in the students from the very beginning of their career.
This innovation challenge gives a boost to the participants and motivation to move ahead
with their ideas to more and better platforms.
Institutional Knowledge Officers Meet
Institutional Knowledge Officers Meet-held on 17th October for the member colleges of ICT Academy in
central Kerala (invitation attached) at multipurpose Hall, Athulya, Infopark Kochi.
Top-10students of our institute (any branch /discipline) to join them for a discussion forum with the
below mentioned distinguished panel members of leading companies in Infopark, and ask any
questions that the students may have on Technology, Industry, Career opportunities and life
experiences.

1) APJ Abdul Kalam Innovation Challenge
The main objective was to inculcate the idea of project development , creativity and
innovation in students. The challenge included several rounds such as one minute pitch,
internal panel evaluation and external panel evaluation.
