Chapter 1
Maintenance Overview
Routine maintenance is performed on schedule to monitor the system regularly, and to
get sustained services from the ZTE Node B. Routine maintenance allows maintenance
personnel to identify potential hazards, which enables the maintenance personnel to
resolve the problems in time. Performing maintenance activities in a timely manner can
prolong the life of components and therefore reduce system-down time.

Common Maintenance Precautions............................................................................1-1
Maintenance Record Tables .......................................................................................1-2

1.1 Common Maintenance Precautions

Following are the operation precautions that should be considered during maintenance:

l The operational environment of the equipment room meets the industry standard.
Maintain a clean equipment room environment, and protect the equipment room
from dust, moisture, fire, and propagation of microbes such as funguses and moulds.
Maintain a closed environment for the equipment room and prevent rodents or
insects from entering the equipment room.
l Ensure that the primary power of the system is stable and reliable, and check the
system grounding and protection earth periodically.
l For easy fault analysis and handling, create duty logs and record detailed daily
operation state, version, data change, upgrade and troubleshooting of the equipment.
l Set different network management passwords for different access rights, and change
passwords periodically.
l Fully trained personnel only need to perform all maintenance operations and
emergency procedures. Strictly obey operational regulations and industrial safety
regulations to ensure personal safety and equipment safety.
l Avoid resetting the ZTE Node B aimlessly. Do not modify the data of the network
management database unless it is necessary. Back up the data before making any
changes to it. Do not delete backup data until the equipment operates properly for a
period (usually a week) after changing the data. Record any data change.
l Ensure the availability of frequently used tools and meters, screw drivers (straight and
cross screw driver), signaling meter, network cable pliers, multimeter, network cables,
and electric torch. Check and calibrate meters to ensure accuracy.
l Ensure that an adequate number of spare parts are available to support system
requirements and all spare parts are packed and stored properly.
l Store the frequently used software and materials in a place where it can be reached
easy.

l Repair immediately the lights if any light in the equipment room is damaged. Repair
the lights in the equipment room immediately, if any light is damaged.
l Immediately handle faults, if any occurs during the performance of routine
maintenance. If the fault cannot be solved, contact relevant ZTE staff as soon as
possible
l Affix the fax number and contact information of ZTE Corporation in the equipment
room to notify all the maintenance personnel.

Danger!

Inspection and adjustment for power must be performed by professionals to avoid

personnel casualty and equipment fault.

Warning!
Before modifying and synchronizing data, first get supervisor's agreement, or else
modifying data randomly will cause great accident.
