Have a 2nd book with an easier storyline.

Timing Learning experiences


Introduction:

- Looking at new reading strategy Inferring


- What is inferring (question class if they remember from Term 1)
- What do they think it means?
- Definition on board. inferring is like being a detective! Use what you see plus what you know to figure
5mins out what the author is trying to tell you.
- When we are being detectives we are looking for clues to work out something that hasnt been explained.
- Otherwise known as reading between the lines.

Main:

- Read The Sack Man book to class 1-3 page


- Questioning students to look for the clues.
5mins - Modelling the first page.
- Guided Reading.

Use A3 paper/board to map the storyline out for the class.

Give out handout for students to complete the rest of the storyline on.
