This bulletin applies to all TA engines built subsequent to the introduction of the latest type hot elbow pivot pin as
illustrated in Fig. 1 overleaf; it also applies to earlier TA engines that were modified to the latest design as
recommended in an earlier Service Bulletin number SB/TU/70 -2 copies of which are attached.

CHECKING DISC SPRINGS


At the next major inspection* of the combustion system, the assembly of both hot elbow pivot pins should be
dismantled and the 'Schnorr' disc springs examined for cracks.

*NOTE: When the tension bolt (6 Fig. 1) is removed (as described later) the hot elbow may twist slightly and
unless the elbow is dismantled (as required during major inspection , it may prove difficult -engage
to re
the bolt threads.

If one, or more, of a set of eight disc springs is cracked, the whole set should be replaced.

DISMANTLING (Refer to Fig. 1).

1. Remove the setscrew (5) and locking strip (1).

2. Remove the tension bolt (6) bush (2) and 'Schnorr' disc springs.

NOTE: Do not remove /pivot pin (4).

3. Closely examine individual disc springs for cracks.

RE-ASSEMBLY

1. Re-assemble the set of eight disc springs onto the locating bush in the conformation shown in Fig.2.

2. Apply high temperature anti


-seize compound (such as Poly Butyl Cuprysil as described in Section T7C -2 of
the engine instruction manual) to the threads of the tension bolt and refit complete with disc springs and
locating bush.

3. Tighten tension bolt until washers arecompressed flat.

4. Slacken tension bolt back 1/3 of a turn and refit locking strip.
