Targeted Review

In fifth grade math, were introducing targeted review as a way to best

prepare for assessments. Throughout your academic career, youll find that
working on the specific areas where you need help are much more effective -
and efficient - than trying to study all of the material on a skill-based exam.

How It Works
After each assessment, youll review your results. Then, well fill out our Review
sheet together. Youll find the specific skills taught in that chapter listed under
topic, and the test questions that assessed that topic written in the same row.
By following this review procedure, we can see on our proficiency bars which
areas were excelling in, and which areas we need further practice in.

Example: Review Sheet

1. Circle the questions that you missed on our check in.

2. Color in a proficiency bar for each correctly answered question.
3. Study wisely using targeted review for our Unit Quiz!

Current level of advancement in a skill

I wasnt proficient in long division at the beginning of fourth grade, but now
my proficiency bar for long division is full!

Proficient

Skilled in doing something

I wasnt proficient in my multiplication tables in third grade, but by fourth

grade I was.

Skills-Based

need to memorize the prime numbers for my skills-based assessment.

Targeted Review

Reviewing a specific area, rather than an entire subject.
