Course: Year 9 Unit: Depth Study 2 Australian and Asia: Making a nation
Topic: Legislation in Australian Society Task: In-class essay
Date: Term 2 Week 6 Marks: 20 marks

Task Description
- Students will be completing an in-class examination on the topic of Legislation in
Australian society from 1901-1914.
- The question will be given to students on the day of the exam and are expected to
answer in an essay style format.
- Students will be given 5 minutes reading time and 45 minutes writing time.


Task Rubric
Students will be assessed on how well they:

- Answer the question


- Include relevant examples
- Structure response in a concise and cohesive manner
- Demonstrate knowledge of Legislation in Australia during 1901-1914


Outcomes being assessed
- HT5-1 explains and assesses the historical forces and factors that shaped the modern
world and Australia

- HT5-7 explains different contexts, perspectives and interpretations of the modern world
and Australia

- HT5-9 applies a range of relevant historical terms and concepts when communicating an
