Giselle Lemire BIO

Giselle Lemire is an award-winning broadcaster,

actor, spoken word poet, director, coach and
facilitator who is fascinated by making magic; in the
theatre, on canvas, with dance, with music and
with words.

She has always had a knack for authentic storytelling.

When she worked as the cultural journalist for Radio-
Canada television in Edmonton, she won an Annick
Award for best news story - an honor that Frederick
Bach and Adrienne Clarkson won the same year.

In the mid 80s, she founded the Thtre du Coyote

Theatre where she wrote, acted, directed and
produced productions for adult and children. Her
most notable productions was Maman ma jamais dit a! / Mama Never Told Me That! - a bilingual
production that toured across Western Canada and was directed by clown-actorauthor-director Robert
Astle, then of Small Change Theatre.

More recently, she produced and was the artistic director of The Poetry Striptease Show: Poets Go Paperless
for the Edmonton Poetry Festival. She has also given noteworthy performances for Edmontons
francophone theatre company, lUnithtre, including a performance as Mmre in Les blues des oublies:

Mmre is a bona fide character in Lemires convincing, tangibly present
performance, with a gait, a posture, a verbal delivery of her own.
- Liz Nicholls, The Edmonton Journal

In 2016, she co-wrote, co-produced and played seven characters in Paris-Edmonton, a production that ran
in Edmontons Fringe Festival. Recently, Giselle was cast in Far West Productions Abigaelle et le date
coaching - Albertas first ever French web series which will air on UNIS TV this fall.

Giselle discovered her passion for spoken word six years ago and has since performed at a large number of
festivals including Edmonton Poetry Festival, Skirts-a-Fire, Kaleido, Edmonton Chante and Moose Jaws
Festival of Words. She was declared Edmonton Slam Champion in 2013. Giselle is a member of the
Edmonton Stroll of Poets, and has published works in their anthology for the past 5 years. She has also
worked with the likes of Alice Major, Edmontons first poet laureate, as well as poet and filmmaker, Kathy
Fisher.
