ABOUT THE EXHIBIT

Id is the Freudian prelude to the tripartite system of the human psyche.

Expressed into a single syllable, it encompasses both the instinctive and the primal.
And as the jagged letters roll off your tongue with a crude bravado, you begin to
realize that you can never speak it with any grace. It demands to be clenched in your
voice.

Borrowing from this sense of uneasiness, is the collective sentiment of the

artists whose works are being displayed. Over random conversations and the
mutual nod to the mundane, each artist has agreed to delve into their peculiar
rebellions of the present. In their chosen medium, they are able to imagine a world
unblemished by social etiquette and short pleasantries. There are no postscripts for
infantile wonder. It exists as that, without apology or hesitation.

Fittingly, Id is the first of its kind in Kagayan. From the raw details of fresh
pigment, each piece has been re-mastered to its digital form and again produced
onto a new slate. Not only does the exhibit seek to create a novel medium, Id may as
well question the elitism that is so pervasive in the niche that was created precisely
to escape it.
