Topic Unit 15 Endangered Species (HEBAT MODULE)
2.1 Demonstrate understanding of a variety of texts using a range of strategies to construct meaning
Content Standard 2.2 Can apply a range of strategies to comprehend texts related to everyday living
2.4 Read independently and extensively to explore and expand ideas for personal development
By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:
Learning Objectives 1. State the endangered species in Malaysia.
2. Identify the main idea from the text given.
I will succeed if I can:
Success Criteria 1. Recognize at least two endangered species in Malaysia.
2. Construct at least 4 questions and provide answers based on the text given.
Set Inductions
1. Students write at least one word to describe the meaning of endangered. [PAK21: Jot thoughts]
2. Students exchange their thought with shoulder partners. [PAK21: Peer Sharing]
Lesson Development
Activity 1:
1. Teacher shows a set of animal pictures.
2. Students view the pictures and they are ask to stand if they think the picture is an endangered species and sit
down if they disagree. [ PAK21: Take-off, Touch Down]
Activity 2:
1. Students required to match the missing information of the endangered species. Students need to convert

numbers from written (word form) notation to standard numeric notation.
2. Students exchange their answers with shoulder partner [ PAK21: Peer Checking]
Activity 3:
1. Students are form into 8 groups which consist of 4-5 members. [PAK21: Numbered Heads]
2. Every groups will receive a text about Disappearing Act. Each group are required to construct questions using
5W1H technique and provide the answers based on the text given. In the group, each group member have to
construct at least 1 question and provide its answer. Group member must first check with teammates for
consensus before they take turn to contribute to the team. [PAK21:RoundTable Consensus]
Closure
1. Teacher concludes the lesson and analyze students understanding on todays lesson. [PAK21: Traffic Light]

3. Suggest at least 2 ways to protect endangered species.

1. Teacher assess students prior knowledge on endangered species. [PAK21: Traffic Light]
Lesson Development
Activity 1:
1. Students display their groups findings around the room.
2. Each group selects two representative (2 stay) to stay at their home group and explain their findings to the
visitors (2 stray) form other groups. The other members will visit the other groups to jot down and listen to others
group presentation. [ PAK21: Two Stay, Two Stray]
Activities 3. After the given time is up, call the students to return to their home group. Ask the visitors to share findings from
other groups presentation to compare their findings.
Activity 2:
1. Individually, student read the text entitled endangered species and complete the graphic information by extract
the main idea from the text.
2. Students pair up with their shoulder partner to check their answers.
3. Students share their answers to their classmates. [ PAK21: Think, Pair, Share]
Closure
1. Teacher concludes the lesson and analyze students understanding on todays lesson. [PAK21: Traffic Light]
