Admission (Session 2017-2018)

* Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) invites application from eligible candidates


for admission.
* BUP offers four years honours and two years masters program.
* Candidates passed HSC or equivalent examination in 2016 and 2017 are allowed to apply
for BA/BSS/BBA/BSc Degree Programs.
* A candidate can apply for admission in any number of faculties he/she is eligible for.
* Admission test (written) of various faculties will be conducted at different dates and time.
* Admission related fees are non-refundable.

Faculty of Arts and Social Science (FASS)

* BSS (Hons) in Development Studies * BA (Hons) in English


* BSS (Hons) in Disaster and Human Security Management * BSS (Hons) in Public Administration
* BSS (Hons) in Economics * BSS (Hons) in Sociology

Eligibility for Admission in any Program of FASS

(1) A candidate must pass SSC/equivalent and HSC/equivalent examination in any discipline/
group.
(2) Candidates of Science Group must have GPA 4.50 in SSC/equivalent and GPA 4.25 in
HSC/equivalent examination.
(3) Candidates of Business Studies Group must have GPA 4.25 in SSC/equivalent and GPA 4.00 in
HSC/equivalent examination.
(4) Candidates of Humanities Group must have GPA 4.00 in SSC/equivalent and GPA 3.75 in
HSC/equivalent examination.
(5) Candidates of General Certificate of Education (GCE) O and A level must pass in minimum 05
(five) and 02 (two) subjects respectively, having minimum 26.5 points in total based on following
scale:

B 4.00
C 3.50
D 3.00

(6) Candidates of International Baccalaureate (IB) must pass in minimum 06 (six) subjects having
minimum 30 points based on rating scale used in their curriculum (7, 6, 5, 4, 3). Rating of 1 and 2
will not be considered in point calculation.
(7) Candidates will have to sit for written test (MCQ) of 100 marks. The marks distribution is as
follows:
(a) General Knowledge 30
(b) English 40
(c) Bangla or Mathematics 30

(8) Candidates applying for Department of Economics or Department of Disaster and Human
Security Management as first choice must answer mathematics, English and General Knowledge of
the question paper.

(9) Candidates applying for Department of Disaster and Human Security Management must be
qualified from science group in SSC/equivalent examination. Candidates must have studied Higher
Mathematics/Statistics in HSC/equivalent examination and obtained minimum A- (A Minus) grade.
(10) Candidates applying for Department of Development Studiers/Public Administration/Sociology
as first choice must answer Bangla, English and General Knowledge of the question paper.

(11) Candidates applying for Department of English must have minimum A- (A Minus) grade in
English both in SSC/equivalent and HSC/equivalent examination. Candidates must answer Bangla,
English and General Knowledge of the question paper.
(12) Candidates applying for Department of Economics must have minimum A- (A Minus) grade in
Economics/Accounting/Statistics/ Higher Mathematics either in SSC/equivalent or HSC/equivalent
examination. Candidates of O Level and A Level must have minimum C grade in any of the
above mentioned subjects.
(13) Candidates passed O Level/equivalent and A Level/equivalent examination from abroad need
to obtain Equivalence Certificate from equivalence committee of respective faculty, before
applying.

Faculty of Business Studies (FBS)

* BBA in Accounting & Information Systems * BBA in Management


* BBA in Finance & Banking * BBA in Marketing
* BBA General
Eligibility for Admission in any Program of FBS

(1) A candidate must pass SSC/equivalent and HSC/equivalent examination in any


discipline/group.

(2) Candidates of Science Group must have a total GPA of 8.75 in SSC/equivalent and
HSC/equivalent examination.

(3) Candidates of Humanities and Business Studies Group must have total GPA 8.25 in
SSC/equivalent and HSC/equivalent examination.

(4) Candidates of General Certificate of Education (GCE) O and A level must pass in minimum 05
(five) and 02 (two) subjects respectively, having minimum 26.5 points in total based on following
scale:

(5) Candidates of International Baccalaureate (IB) must pass in minimum 06 (six) subjects having
minimum 30 points based on rating scale used in their curriculum (7, 6, 5, 4, 3). Rating of 1 and 2

(6) Candidates passed O Level/equivalent and A Level/equivalent examination from abroad need
to obtain Equivalence Certificate from equivalence committee of respective faculty, before
applying.

(7) Candidates will have to sit for written test (MCQ) of 80 marks. The marks distribution is as
follows:

(a) Mathematics 40
(b) English 24
(c) General Knowledge 16

Eligibility for Admission in Two Years MBA Program
(1) A candidate must pass SSC/equivalent, HSC/equivalent and BA/BBA/BSS/BSc/equivalent in
any group/discipline.
(2) The candidate must have 8 points based on following calculations:

(3) Masters Degree holders will be rewarded with 1 (one) additional point.
(4) Applicants who have appeared at O level examination must pass at least 05 (five) subjects with
minimum C grade in each subject.
(5) Applicants who have appeared at A level examination must pass at least 02 (two) subjects with
minimum C grade in each subject.
(6) Candidates will have to sit for written test (MCQ) of 80 marks. The marks distribution is as
follows:
(a) Mathematics 40

(b) English 24
(c) General Knowledge 16

Faculty of Security and Strategic Studies (FSSS)

* BSS (Hons) in International Relations * BSS (Hons) in Mass Communication & Journalism
* L.L.B. (Hons)
Eligibility for Admission in any Program of FSSS
(1) A candidate must pass SSC/equivalent and HSC/equivalent examination in any
discipline/group.
(2) Candidates of Science Group must have GPA 4.50 in SSC/equivalent and GPA 4.25 in
HSC/equivalent examination.
(3) Candidates of Humanities and Business Studies Group must have GPA 4.25 in SSC/equivalent
and GPA 4.00 in HSC/equivalent examination.
(4) Candidates of General Certificate of Education (GCE) O and A level must pass in minimum 05

Eligibility for Admission in any Program of FST
(1) A candidate must pass SSC/equivalent and HSC/equivalent examination in science
discipline/group.
(2) Candidates must have GPA 4.75 in SSC/equivalent and GPA 4.50 in HSC/equivalent
examination.
(4) Candidates of General Certificate of Education (GCE) O and A level must pass in minimum 05
(five) and 02 (two) subjects respectively, having minimum 26.5 points in total based on following
scale:

(5) Candidates of International Baccalaureate (IB) must pass in minimum 06 (six) subjects having

(8) Candidates will have to sit for written test (MCQ) of 70 marks. The marks distribution is as
follows:
(a) Mathematics 25

(b) Physics 20
(c) Chemistry 15

(d) English 10

* Application Processing Fee is Taka 750.00 (seven hundred fifty) only for each faculty (faculty
comprises maximum of six departments).
* Application processing fee must be deposited online through your preferred Card/Mobile Financial
Services/Internet Banking. Service Charge is applicable. Detailed Payment procedure is available

* Detailed application procedure for concerned faculties can be found at Admission link of BUP

Special Instructions
* Admission test will be taken in MCQ system and 0.25 marks will be deducted for each wrong
answer.
* Help Desk will remain open from 0900 hours to 1700 hours everyday from 14 September 2017 to
26 October 2017 at the Reception of the university. For any query applicants may call at
