1.1 Welcome Message
Dear Parents and Students,
Welcome to the new term at Good Will Children Private School L.L.C . We are pleased to see returning
students and excited to meet the new ones who have come to join us.
To provide our students with the best of what education has to offer we are on a continuous journey of
self improvement. At Good Will we make sure that every year our students get the best learning
experience through the addition of latest technological resources and facilities that enable them to en-
hance their physical and mental skills.
Our teachers will remain in contact with you through out the year as they will send out curriculum
information shortly to keep you informed. Through the orientation meeting our staff will explain how
the school year will move ahead and what you can do to support your childs journey.
We hope to make this school year a successful and bright one for your child because for us your success
is your success.

1.6 Affiliation with Cambridge University


Good Will Children Private School L.L.C is an approved Cambridge examination center for primary
and secondary. This is the Cambridge programming that we are following and takes learning to a
journey of per-university education, building knowledge and skills at each stage.

2: GETTING READY FOR SCHOOL

2.1 School Timing


Students should be in the school by 7:30 a.m.
Assembly time for new academic session will be at 7:40 a.m.
Students coming with parents via car will use Gate No. 1.
Parents are requested NOT TO drop their children in school before 7 a.m. as staff
timings are from 7:15 a.m.
School off timings for new academic session will be 12:10 a.m. ( for KGs) and 2:00 a.m.
(for primary and secondary), any changes in timings will be notified.
Bus timings for students will be coordinated with you by drivers and supervisors.

2.2 Parent drop off


Any person coming to pick their child (other than parents) should present their Emirates ID in
reception and the parent should inform the reception before hand. If the school is not informed
we will not hand the child to the unidentified person.
In order to ensure students safety within school premises, security doors have been installed to
prevent entrance of any unauthorized person.
Anyone wishes to enter school, are requested to enter from school gate no. 1 and submit their
Emirates ID and sign visitors book and must wear the visitors pass.
Parents are not allowed to enter main school area without escort.

2.3 School Uniform


It is mandatory for all students to be in neat and clean uniform on regular days.
Students will attend parent teacher meeting in school uniform.
Colored clothes will not be allowed.
P.E uniform to be worn on only P.E days prior to coming to school in the morning.
For P.E black P.E shoes with White socks must be worn evrey day for all grades levels.
Students must wear school jackets only within the school premises.
Colored jackets are not allowed and will be confiscated if a child fails to cooperate
after waning from School management.
All parents are requested to kindly inspect their childs hair for head lice every two
weeks and use effective medicines if necessary.

Boys Uniform Girls Uniform


Boys must wear Black shoes with For Girls, black shoes with white
White Socks. socks/ leggings/ tights.
Long hair for boys are not permitted Girls with shoulder or long length
in the school. hair, should be tied neatly.
Hair should be well groomed. No Nail polish.
Boy shirts should be neatly tucked in. Black Shela/Head Scarf (for those

2.4 KG Equipment
Please make sure to equip your child with the following for your childs ease:

Kindly send extra set of clothing.


Please label the bag with your childs name and the items inside.
Please provide wet wipes.
Parents are recommended to provide medium size bags along with a separate lunch box and water bottle.
Kindly do not provide any trolley bags
It is preferable that your child wears black shoes without laces, to ensure comfort and safety.

2.5 School Lunch box


Healthy Lunch boxes are important for active children and it is important to offer healthy lunch box
choices. In our School we encourage students to bring healthy snack and lunch boxes from the home.
Kindly make sure about the following points to help us in developing healthy eating patterns in chil-
dren.
No fizzy drinks or containers that are difficult to open should be in
cluded in lunch boxes.
In line with the Ministry of health advice, food and snacks should be
healthy.
Chips, Chewing gum, chocolates and sweets are not allowed in school.
Add homemade sandwich, and fruits in the lunch boxes.

Cucumbers. Carrot, yogurt are very healthy options to be packed in your childs lunch box.
Make sure you send water bottles with your children. Bottles can be refilled from school water
dispensers.
Avoid giving fried, oily and sweets as children feel lethargic after taking such food.
Sharing food among students are not allowed to avoid any inconvenience as some children may
have food allergies.
Parents are requested to take permission from the school administration before bringing any
food items from outside sources for birthday parties and other events one week prior to the event.
Last moments requests for parties/celebrations will not be entertained.

2.6 Items Prohibited in School


In order to ensure safety and wellbeing of all children in the school, kindly make sure about the
following points
Use of electronic gadgets like mobile/mp3 players, IPods, Digital Cameras are strictly prohibited
in the school.
Toys/Replica of gun or any game of destructive nature is not allowed.
Medicine other than prescribed by doctor (that too be kept in school clinic with nurse).
School management will not be responsible for the loss of articles or money brought by students.

3: TAKING THE BUS

3.1 Bus Rules & Responsibilities


In order to ensure students safety in the bus, parents are requested to
comply with bus rules and responsibilities listed below:
Discipline must be maintained in the bus all the time.
Students must accept the authority of bus driver and supervisors beside other staff member
in the bus.
Wait at home pick up area with your children at least 10 minutes before the bus arrival.
Bus supervisors number will be shared with parent in the beginning of the session.
Inform the bus driver/supervisor beforehand via phone call if your child will be absent.
As per ADEC OSH technical guideline (01) for school bus transportation safety, help your child get on/
off the bus. Bus supervisors will not leave the bus in any circumstances.
Ensure that there is someone to receive your child (under age 11) from the bus when they are back from
the school.
In absence of anyone to receive the child at the drop off area (under age 11), bus drivers have instructions
to bring the child back to the school.
School will follow zero tolerance policy for safety issues inside the bus.
Repeated disobedience and indiscipline in the bus may debar the students from using the school transport.
In case of any damage inside the bus caused by any student, parents will be liable to pay for the damage.
In case of any medical absences or early pick up during the school day, contact Ms. Karima in reception.
Direct communication with bus drivers/supervisors will not be encouraged and school will not take any
responsibility regarding request for change in timings, change of residence or any other information shared
directly with bus drivers/supervisors without involving school management.

4: PARENT EXPECTATIONS

4.1 Parent Expectations


Parents and guardians are expected to:

Work in partnership with staff to ensure good behaviour.


Making effort to ensure that children attend school every day and arrive on time.
Checking diaries regularly and sign on completion of reading.
Ensuring that their child complete homework assignment.
Attending scheduled Parent Teacher meetings and evenings regularly.
Inform staff of any concerns.
Respond to concerns raised by members of staff.
Ensure pupils come to school correctly equipped and prepared to work.
Take one day prior appointment from school in order to meet Teacher/ Head of Departments.
Same day appointment request will not be entertained.
To comply with school in following all the rules set by school management.

4.2 Parent Council


We openly invite all parents to support the school in achieving a healthy and more interactive
learning environment for our students. Your support will be a great strength not only for the
students but staff alike.
Parent Council members will be requested to help the school in a variety of ways with different
tasks and responsibilities.
We will be sending out nomination forms or you can contact social worker Ms. Mehwish , if you
wish to volunteer to be a part of this council. We appreciate and encourage all parents who come
forward to help and support us.
The school also welcomes parents from our parent council members, who wish to be part of the
Board of Governors Committee.
The responsibilities of this committee will be communcated to you by the concerned individuals.

5: STUDENTS EXPECTATIONS

5.1 Attendance Expectations


For parents to allow absence from school without good cause it is not acceptable. High level of education is
based on ensuring regular attendance.
Daily records of attendance and late records (students coming late to school) are documented to ensure the
preparation of necessary reports and warnings where needed.
Good Will children Private School L.L.C adheres to the Abu Dhabi Education attenanceines.
If the school receives any declaration of emergency holiday by ADEC the parents will be notified by school
circular.
In case of Emergency medical condition or appointment, parents should contact the school in absence of their
child before 8:30 a.m. from the first day of absence.
To reduce the risk of contagious disease among other students at school, the student must be absent for 24 hours
or more if necessary and with a written testimony from the doctor to ensure that the period of spreading the
illness has passed.
The guardian must bring a medical certificate of absence stamped by a Government or Private medical institute
from (3 to 5 working days) for the absence.
In accordance with Abu Dhabi Education Council policy, the guardian must send a written letter to the Head
of Department and provide the necessary evidence for the absence and clarification of the period. This must be
submitted at least 10 days prior to the expected absence so that the students teacher can draw up list of required
work, duties and tasks that would need to be prepared in advance to assign to the students.
The student is suspended from School if he or she is absent for 10 consecutive days or 15
non-consecutive days during the School Academic year. Three warnings are given for every three days
of absence without excuse.

5.2 School Clinic


The school clinic is run by a New Medical Centre (NMC) contracted nurse and adhereds to HAAD
regulations authority. These are some conditions you will need to meet or notify the nurse:

If your child has a contagious illness or conditions (chicken pox, head lice ..etc.)
If your child needs to take any medication, it must be supervised by the nurse.
If the child has special medical needs and needs special dietitian needs, allergies, physical
impairment etc).
The nurse will notify you when vaccination by HAAD authority is taking place in school.Please
complete all letters of consent.
If a child is found ill during school time they will be asked to sit in the clinic until the parent is
contacted to collect the child. Please do not send your child when ill to school as this will spread
disease.

5.3 Reporting Attendance


Good Will Children aims to achieve a high attendance rate for students through the commitment
to provide a safe and stimulating learning environment.

At the end of each semester, certificates of appreciation will be awarded for attendance at 95%
The attendance of student will be reported in the end of each term, the following is the key:

95% Excellent
Well done and this will help aspects of life and progress in school and this
gives and good start in life and support positive work ethics.

90%-95% Good
Good job. I will try to do better next term.

85%-90% Average
Absence now effects school achievement and progress and please
work with the school urgently to improve the situation

Less than 85% Poor


Absence causes serious concern and effects achievement, progress and dis-
ruption of student learning. The school will communicate with the parent
through various communication channels to improve student attendance.

5.4 House System (promoting positive behaviour)


In order to promote good behaviour and positive attitudes in our students, we have a reward system
House System which is used form grade 1 to grade 8. This year we are also introducing this reward
system in our KG 2.
In this Reward system, we divide our students in four houses and each house is associated with a
color:
1)Houbara House (Blue) 3)Falcon House (Green)

2)Hammour House (Yellow) 4)Arabian Oryx House (Red)

In order to reinforce good and positive behaviour house points are given to students which are collected
in house boxes and counted on weekly bases.
Winner house is announced on every Sunday.
Winner house of each term go to recreational trip as reward.

5.5 Behaviour Expectations


Comply with all instructions and behavioural rules inside and outside the classroom and
school activities and trips.
Be responsible and respectful for the rights and freedom of others and dealings with everyone
honestly and faithfully.
Maintain property and the school facilities and equipment.
Commitment to the culture and heritage of the U.A.E. State.
Display positive attitudes towards others to an atmosphere of respect and appreciation for all.

5.6 Disciplinary Action


The consequences of over ruling the school discipline by any student will be in accordance with
the violation as under:

For will full breakage of damage to school property, a fine will be imposed on the errant student.
If a more than one student is involved, then the same fine will be charged to the entire group of
the students involved.

Explain the procedures for modifying undesirable behaviour:


Mentors involved (teacher, supervisor, and social worker).
Communicate a verbal warning the student.
In case of repeated offence for breaking rules of the classroom more than
Level 1 twice the student shall be referred to the supervisor, directs a written warning
to the student.
Apologies to the offended should be written by the student.
If the student repeats an offense the yellow warning card with notification to
the offending behaviour by the student.
In the event of repeated irregularities first level or second level irregularities
an orange level will be given to the student.
The school at this point can prevent the student from extra curricula activities
Level 2 such as clubs but not educational activities.
Parent notification violation by students and communicate with and discuss
a plan to modify behaviour student wombat to make sure fix this behaviour.

In case of repeated breaches of the second level by the student shall be


referred to behaviour modification table school management and educational
Commission take appropriate action according to the regulation.
In cases of beatings and physical abuse the student shall be referred to the
Level 3 security and safety officer directs his red alert.
The School Board then take the action that it deems appropriate and may
vary between Transport Division, temporarily a maximum of 5 days, transfer
to another school and the final chapter of the school after Abu Dhabi Education
Council approval.

5.7 Student Council


We believe in building leadership skills and a responsible attitude among students to be fundamental in
developing mature, responsible and active global citizens, thefore our student council program has been
running from several years and is growing and improving every year.

The school students elect representatives of the council through voting. The elected members take their
oath and actively participate in arranging and organizing events, holding meetings, taking student surveys,
raising student vice and bridging it to the school management.
The council is led by Ms.Anum and Ms.Mehwish who work closely with the council and guides them in
their initiatives.

6: CURRICULUM

6.2 KG Curriculum
The Early Years Goals are the UK curriculum for students from 44 months until they enter Grade
One. Through this curriculum students learn to communicate in English, learn through phonics to
read and write; and understand simple mathematical concepts.

We have six themes in both KG 1 and KG 2. Each theme runs for 6 weeks. The 7 areas of learning
are taught through these themes. Teachers integrate lessons on a daily basis.

6.5 Assemblies
Assembly programs are planned to instill the
values in students and to inform students
of daily activities. The Core vision of MOE
within the curriculum is embedded within

6.6 Home Work


Students will receive a weekly homework letter from the teacher. Students will also receive a log in
and password to used at home to complete educational activities.

7: EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

7.1 Educational Trips


As part of delivering excellent education, we arrange educational trips and walks outside
the school as we believe in giving first-hand learning experiences to students to extend their
learning experience and potential.

For your child to participate in educational trips and walks, all parents are requested to
sign the permission slip (attached within the booklet). Please cut and send to reception.
Without the permission slip, your child WILL NOT be allowed on the trip.
