First, determine the curriculum; that is, what the children will learn, what
they will be able to do upon completing the activities or work of the lesson.
Second, determine what the students already know, before beginning the
lesson, that can lead into the new curriculum of the day.
Third, determine at least one way to assist the students in learning the new
curriculum.
Fourth, determine at least one way to evaluate the learning outcomes of the
students.
The lesson plan has clear and suitable aims and objectives
The content, methods and structure of the lesson selected is appropriate for the
pupil learning intended
The lesson is planned to link up appropriately with past and future lessons
Materials, resources and aids are well-prepared and checked in good time
All planning decisions take account of the pupils and the context

Lesson Planning
AIM
A statement carrying the intent of the teacher and purpose of the lesson she wants to
achieve. It is a telescope through which teachers want to see everything perfect.
EDUCATIONAL AIM
It determines purpose and rationale for the lesson to be taught. And explains what are
students expected to be able to do by the end of a lesson?
OBJECTIVES
The learning outcomes of a lesson this is what the pupils will have learned at the end of
the lesson which they did not know or could not do before your teaching. Objectives tell
us what to look for in a learners learning.
Starting A Lesson
Get students attention as soon as you enter the class is extremely important as it gives
direction to teaching and the topic. Identify the focus of the lesson and motivate students
for active involvement in the lesson.

What is unique about this lesson?
Where are my students going?
CONTENT
What do they need to know to go ahead?
What concepts have to be mastered to accomplish the lesson objectives?
METHOD
How are they going to get there?
What will I do to take them along?
RESOURCES
What materials will be needed?
What textbooks or reference books will be used?
What needs to be prepared in advance?
How will the materials be presented to ensure each student benefits from the learning
experience?
ASSESSMENT / EVALUATION
Determine someway how identified objectives will be evaluated.
Allow students practice on the skills to be evaluated.
Analyze how much did the students learn?
How many students did learn?
