SUBJECT: Expectation of Privacy in the Workplace

Privacy in a work place is important because it sometimes affects how the employees perform in
a business. Employers have the right to monitor employee email and internet use if its for valid
business purpose because it is used on company premises. Employees expected to be respected
by the employers even though by law they have the right to privacy. Commented [LR1]: But how about a purpose line. You
are already getting into the dos and donts without having
adequately provided a context for the discussion. You need

because it ties in with respecting each others property because they have to deal with customers
money, which is the main responsibility of the bank. Privacy is expected in a workplace because
even though you are on the company property everyone has the right to privacy but if the
employer believes that you are jeopardizing the business they have to the right to monitor you
with you being aware. Employers should notify employees when they are being monitored
because it may be violating their rights. An employee from Allied Global says that he expects
that he has an extent of privacy in his workplace so that he may feel comfortable and work more
efficiently. He understands that employers need to monitor certain activities to prevent their
computers from getting viruses. Commented [LR3]: Ok. But what about studies of
employees and their views. These two are good but there
may also be others from research studies.

acceptance of the recommendations?
Recommendation and Suggestions
The Williams Group should:

Implement a system similar to Atlantic Bank reason being because it gives employees no reason
to go on any other sites because they have their own email site that the bank provides for each
employee. Also give the employees the privacy that they needs but only to an extent and notify
them that they are being monitored. Create consequences for breaking any of the policies such as
suspension or maybe a cut of pay. Create one specific site that employees have to use for their
work similarly to Allied Global

Commented [LR10]: Recommendations should be listed
