History of I-Kuan Tao

- Fa-Yi Chung Der

Benn Koai
A brief introduction to I-Kuan Tao
(Yi-Guan Dao)
I-Kuan Tao (Yi-Guan Dao) is the belief in and worship of God
(Lord of all souls). It is the Truth inherited from the teachings of
Confucius, which is the same Truth taught by the founders of
the five world religions*. I-Kuan Tao was established by
Patriarch Lu Zhong-yi (our Great Patriarch Jin-Gong), 17th
Patriarch of the later stage of the East Dao Orthodoxy.
In 1930, God ordered Zhang Guang-Bi and Sun Hui-Ming (our
venerable holy teachers -- the 18th Patriarchs), who were both
disciples of Lu Zhong-yi, to carry on the Dao Orthodoxy and
preach the Great Dao to reveal Enlightenment to humanity and
all creatures and to save all souls. In addition, they established
the instructions for The Objective of Tao*.

The Seventeenth Patriarch Lu
Jing-Gong Patriarch
Patriarch: Mi-Le Buddha/Maitreya Buddha, or Patriarch Lu,
named Zhong-Yi, is the first patriarch of the White-Sun Era.
He was born on April 24,1849, in Jining, Shandong
province of China. Miraculously inspired by the Buddhas to
receive Tao from the sixteenth Patriarch Liu, he followed
Patriarch Liu and diligently cultivated Tao. In 1905, Heaven
ordained him as the seventeenth patriarch, or the first
patriarch of the White-Sun Era. He passed away on
February 2, 1925.
On March 3 of the following year, his spirit worked a great
miracle, he lectured through the physical body of a person
called Yang Chuen-ling. His spirit lectured for one hundred
days. During this period, he chanted the Jing-Gong Subtle
Sutra and the True Sutra of Maitreya Buddha. Both are now
widespread all over the world.
The Eighteenth Patriarch- Zhang,
Tian-Ran Buddha
Shi-Zun: Our Shi-Zun is Ji-Gong Living Buddha
incarnate. His family name is Zhang, his first name is
Kui-Sheng, also known as Guang-Bi and Tian-Ran in
the Tao Temples. He was born on July 19, 1889 in
Jining, Shandong Province of China. He received Tao in
1915 and was mandated with Heavenly Decree in 1930
as the eighteenth patriarch, or the second patriarch in
the White-Sun Era, to complete the last salvation. He
passed away during the night of the Mid-Autumn
Festival in 1947 in Chengdu, Sichuan province of China.
The Almighty God then bestowed on him an honorable
Buddha's name as Tian-Ran-Gu-Fo.
The Eighteenth Patriarch- Sun,
Zhong-Hua-Shen-Mu
Shi-Mu: Our Shi-Mu is Yue-Hui Bodhisattva incarnate.
Her family name is Sun; her given name is Su-Zhen,
known as Hui-Ming in the Tao Temples. She was born
in Shan County, Shandong province of China, on
August 28, 1895. In 1930, it was ordained by Heavenly
Decree that Shi-zun and Shi-Mu fulfill the last
salvation. She passed away on February 23 in 1975.
God bestowed on her the honorable holy title: Zhong-
HuaShen-Mu.
Although Shi-Zun and Shi-Mu have already left the
world, the Heavenly Decree prevails. Lao-Qian-Ren and
Qian-Ren continue the efforts to assist our Enlightening
Masters with this holy mission---the completion of the
last salvation of all the sentient beings.
Bai-Shui-Lao-Ren
Han Lao Qian Ren (Grand Senior Elder), given
name En-Rong also known as Yu-Lin, called
himself "Bai-Shui-Lao-Ren ". He was born in
March 22, 1901 in Ninghe, Hebei, China. He
received Tao in 1938 and was assigned
Transmission master in 1941. In 1948, Han
Lao Qian Ren was ordained by Shi-Mu to lead
several senior elders to start the pioneering
mission in Taiwan. January 26, 1995 Han Lao
Qian Ren at the age of 95 answered the
merciful call from the Almighty and return to
heaven.
Qian-Ren
Qian Ren (Senior Elder) Ms. Chen, given name
Hong-Zhen was born in the city of Tianjin in
1923. She received Tao at the age of 18 and
realized Tao. In 1948, she accompanied Lao
Qian Ren back to Formosa to propagate Tao.
For more than 50 years, Qian Ren propagated
Tao tirelessly and modeled herself after Tao.
Acknowledged by the Almighty, Qian Ren was
honored with the Heavenly Decree to continue
the works of our Shi-Zun, Shi-Mu and Lao
Qian Ren to salvage the suffering world.
1930, the Almighty God ordained
Shi-Zun and Shi-Mu to inherit the
Heavenly Decree; the heritage of
Tao thus continued.
Shi-Zun and Shi-Mu had
shouldered the holy responsibility
to architect the utopia of
Maitreya. After countless trials
and tribulations, Tao was quickly
flourished and spread all over
China by 1945.
In 1939, Shi-Zun wrote
Temporary Tao Etiquette.
On August 15, 1947, Shi-
Zun returned back to
Heaven at the age of 59.
Shi-Mu alone continued
the inheritance of Tao to
renovate the social abused
and refresh the minds of
the people. In 1954, Shi-
Mu moved to Taiwan to
continue the Salvation
Mission of the Three
Worlds.
In 1948, Han Lao
Qian Ren was
ordained by Shi-Mu
to lead several senior
elders to start the
pioneering mission
in Taiwan.
From 1948 to 1960, the initial years were full of
hardships and sufferings, misunderstanding and tests
from the public, tribulations from the government,
and most of all the testing of their will and
determination from Heaven. Lao Qian Ren and Qian
Ren were very preserving to resolve misunderstanding
and overcome all the hindrance.
Not until twenty years later, when Han Lao Qian
Ren moved to Weidao Road, did he manage to
break through the impasse; Tao propagation
started to prevail throughout the island.
