Lesson idea implementation:

Teacher will review the positions and motion of the earth in the solar system. After teacher will explain
that students will create a PowerPoint that explains the sequence of the phases of the moon. Teacher will do
a quick review of how to work PowerPoint and what to include in the project. Students will include all of the
phases and what they phase of the moon do along with pictures. Teacher will have each student on a
computer and have them open PowerPoint. Children will work independently for the entire class period of 45
minutes to finish this project. Students who struggle to read and type will be placed in a small group with
teacher for guidance.
Students will be assessed on the information that they place in the PowerPoint. They will need to include
all of the phases and descriptions of each. Teacher will give feedback to the students independently orally to
each of the students. To extend this lesson student will research the dates for the next dates of the phases of
the moon. For example, students will research when the next New Moon will be at and place it in the project.
