Clarinetists all around the world enjoy playing duets; for performance, for developing
sight-reading skills, and often just for fun. However, when it comes to Christmas duets, a
majority of those published by major music publishers are arranged for elementary level
players. My wife is a flute teacher and I first arranged these duets for her to play with her
intermediate and advanced flute students. They proved to be a delight for them; challenging at

times, without being overwhelming; at times, joyful; at times, uplifting; at times, serene.
.Most are also quite suitable for informal performances and church services. I've now

revised them so as to be appropriate for clarinetists (these are not compatible with the flute
duet arrangements) and I hope you will find these Christmas Duets to be a delight for you, too.

What Child is This?
 Kenneth Baird is the Director of Orchestra and Wind Ensemble at Oral Roberts University in
Tulsa, Oklahoma. A graduate of the University of Tulsa and Southern Oregon State University,
he was a public school band and orchestra director for over 25 years and is a composer of
many original works for string orchestra, solo instruments, and chamber ensembles.
