BABAYLAN
The Babaylan movie was an indie, drama and an epic adventure film. It was written and directed by Peter Allan Mariano at Daranak Falls and
Calinawan Cave. Production focuses on the crucial role of babaylans in modern society today. Babaylan is a Visayan term identifying an indigenous Filipino
religious leader, who functions as a healer, a shaman, a seer and a community "miracle-worker" (or a combination of any of those). A babaylan is also a folk
therapist, wisdom-keeper, and philosopher. Men and women can be babaylan, but most babaylans are female. The Babaylan movie is about the fun
adventure of the culture of the Suguidanon in Panay Bukidnon community. Starring, Neil Coleta as Caloy, Chanella Torre as Agnes, Nikki Valdez as Joyce and
Dirreck Monastero as Lawrence.
Ang "Babaylan" ay nagsasalaysay ng kuwento tungkol sa pag-aaral ng isang mag-aaral para sa kanyang kaalaman, mga pinagmulan ng kanyang
mga ninuno lalong lao na ang tungkol sa mga Babaylan. Si Lawrence at ang kanyang kaibigan na si Caloy ay nagsimulang maghanap ng mga sagot sa ibang
lugar. Natagpuan nila si Leo, isang lider ng kabataan at tagapagtaguyod ng Babaylanismo, at ang kanyang kaibigan na si Joyce, isang babaylan apprentice na
mukhang may mas malalim at mas tiyak na pag-unawa sa kung ano ang isang babaylan na batay sa kanya ang mga babylan ay mula sa kultural, kasaysayan

Patuloy na naranasan ni Lawrence at Joyce ang mga pangitain na ito habang natutunan nila ang higit pa tungkol sa babaylan, kultura ng komunidad ng
Panay Bukidnon, at Suguidanon. Ang mga pangwakas na pangitain na sina Lawrence at Joyce, isang matandang babaylan at ang tagapagsanay ni Joyce ay
nagpatuloy upang magsagawa ng isang komplikadong ritwal sa pagpapagaling sa isang sakit upang matulungan ang mag-asawa. Sa kanilang
pakikipagsapalaran, marami silang natutunan tungkol sa babaylan at napagtanto nila na dapat pahalagaan ang mga ito dahil ito ay naging parte ng ating
kasaysayan.
The aspect of this movie is the students may have knowledge on what the babaylans culture and tradition. I chose acting because as a teenagers
if we sees an actor we cant deny the fact we are hoity-toity kinikilig like in this movie the main character is Dirreck Monastero, hes a good actor. These
actors and actresses we watch in television gave us influence in some ways.
Healers have a big role. When it came to supernatural-caused diseases, such as those thought to be caused by witchcraft, only the babaylans
could treat the ailment.
To be honest, in the first part, I didnt like the movie, I thought it was very interesting to watch but we ended up sleepy and boring, but I have no choice but
to watch it, list down notes and yes, and such an interesting story. It helps us students and also teachers because it gives us the information about their
lifestyles and traditions. If a have given a chance to meet a babaylan, I have nothing to ask but I shall observe what theyre doing and practices.
