18.5 With relation to registration process

Objective : Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai have


to perform obligatory duties as laid down under
section 61 & 63 of the Mumbai Municipal
Corporation Act. Municipal Commissioner
has to execute contracts on behalf of the
Corporation to perform the duties. Hence, it is
necessary to have Registration of the
Contractors, to have a better control qualitatively
& quantitatively, over execution of various
Municipal Constructions and other allied works.
Eligibility for registration : As per Rules Governing the Registration of
Contractors for Civil, Mechanical, Electrical &
Electronics Engineering Works 1992.

List of Plant and Machinery possessed by
contractor.

out in last three years in MCGM OR/AND in
Government/ Semi Government/ Private

Procedure of application : Application for New Registration in prescribed


printed form available in the office of
City Engineer (on payment of fee
Rs. 600/-+VAT ) along with required documents
is to be made to City Engineer.
Process followed in the :
1)
ApAplications received from the applicant for
Public Authority after New Registration,
along with requisite the receipt of application
documents are scrutinized by the office of
Ex. Eng. (Mon. & Regn) Cell and after fully
compliance the same are put up before
Registration Sub-Committee for further
scrutiny and recommendation to Registration
Committee. In the Registration Committee
meeting the recommendations of
Registration Sub-Committee are discussed
and approval to the same is granted.
2)
Registration Certificate of the applicant for
New Registration are prepared by the office
Ex.Eng. (Mon. & Regn) Cell and
Administrative approval from Secretary
Registration Committee / Chairman
Registration Committee is obtained and after
taking note in office record the same are
issued to the applicant.

Validity period of Registration : Three calendar years including the year of


(If applicable) granting the Registration.
Process of Renewal (If any) : 1) Application for Renewal of Registration for
registered firm is required to be made on
prescribed printed application form available in
City Engineer office on payment of fee
of Rs.600/- + VAT.
2) Applications received from the registered
contractors for Renewal of Registration along
with requisite documents are scrutinized by the
office of Ex.Eng.(Mon & Regn) Cell & after fully
compliance the same are approved by the
Executive Engineer (Monitoring & Registration)
Cell subject to verification of documents. After
that validity of Registration of the contractors is
extended for three calendar years and
necessary endorsement on original Registration
Certificate of the contractor is made by the
office of Ex. Eng. (Monitoring & Registration)
Cell.

18.6 With relation to collection of tax by Public Authority (Municipal Corporation,


Trade Tax, Entertainment Tax etc)
