Come to the Feast! In todays Gospel, the invitation of the king to come to
the feast is extended far and wide so that the banquet hall would be full for the
wedding feast of his son. Likewise, Gods invitation to partake in the feast of
faith is shared far and wide as he calls us to follow him to the kingdom. In both
instances, however, something is required of those who are invited. While there
is an expectation that the Lord will feed and nourish us, there is also an expecta-
tion that we will be properly attired. For us, that means that we are put to on
Christ and share his love with others as we take the responsibility of faith seriously. On Mission for
The Church Alive! is an opportunity for us to build up the Church of Pittsburgh as a tangible witness
of Jesus present in the world. Not only are we charged as individuals to answer the call to love God
above all and our neighbor as ourselves, but to gather as one in worship and in work and give greater
effectiveness to the Body of Christ, the Church. As On Mission unfolds more will be asked of us as
we come to the feast at a new place or time or with new people, yet we can trust that God will pro-
vide more for us to strengthen us and through us to strengthen others. Visit onmission-
churchalive.org to learn more and to stay informed.

Anointing of the Sick ~ October 28th-29th

The Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick is for those among us who are sick and in-
firmed, those who are elderly may be anointed if they are in weak condition even though
no dangerous illness is present and sick children may be anointed if they have sufficient
use of reason to be comforted by the sacrament. No longer should we think of the Anointing of the
Sick as simply Last Rites. The sacrament in fact is for the living. The Anointing of the Sick is the
Churchs provision for spiritual and corporal remedy. The Sacrament removes all sins and punish-
ment for sin even if a person is unconscious, however the person must be alive for the sacrament to
take effect. We will celebrate a communal rite of the Anointing of the Sick at all Masses on the
weekend of October 28th-29th. Please call the Parish Office if you plan to be anointed and let us
know which Mass you will be attending. Homebound who are unable to attend the communal ser-
vice, but would like to be anointed, are invited to call the Parish Office to make an appointment for
Fr. Bill to make a visit.

Support Group for Autoimmune Disease

Wed like to begin a support group here at the parish for those with Autoimmune diseases. Ive put
a post out on Facebook asking if there was an interest in the Mon Valley, and have gotten a very posi-
tive response. This group would be for patients and caregivers to voice concerns, share what works
for the patient and what helps us get through most days. We want to keep the group positive and sup-
portive to help those suffering, and hopefully bring some relief and joy to those lives affected by
these diseases. If you or someone you know may be interested, please email me at:
deaconal611@gmail.com. Praying well be able to start this in the next month or two.
