A.

The current choice of my field is in Accounting and Finance that I am pursuing from university of
Hertfordshire. Currently I am in 2nd year of my degree. This degree gives an opportunity to me to
study to different parts that is Accounting and Finance. looking ahead to this in future it depends
on choice of career which your considering to choose your professionalism in accounting or
finance. According my field of choice I have decided my career choice as a Chief Financial
Officer (CFO).

One of my best strengths is that I finish up the work in best way possible and finish task earlier
than due. While doing work, I am not distracted by any means. I concentrate on the task until I
complete them and then look for other task or possibilities. While in university we have a lot of
assignments and most of the deadlines are near to each other which are strict. While I focus on
them I always meet the deadlines successfully. While I was working with family business for a
short period. I was given the task to enter the daily sales for the shops working on this small
task I found how efficient I should be while providing the details by the end of the day. This
gives me and experience and ability to understand work life.

Secondly, I am effective while working in groups or teamwork. I am polite, understanding,

supportive while making and taking decisions. I have been working in groups since primary
schooling, but working in team in industry is different. working in groups makes u interact with
different people that differs in gender, nationality and in nature. I have worked with Doha
Tribeca Film Festival (DTFF) in 2015, while working I was assigned in a cinematic team where
we were given task to communicate with the choreographers and producers of films in that
festival. My interactions with team was so successfully done that at the end of the festival I was
awarded by my team leader for my work. in this task, every team member was from different
regions it was good interaction with them.

Thirdly, written communication and languages according to my self-reflection I have seen that I
have a good writing and speaking skill which is most important for any field of study. I can also
speak and write different languages like: English, Arabic , Urdu and Hindi beside this I am also
going to learn more new languages that include Malay and French in coming months .

On the other hand, talking about weakness which I am going through is fear or shyness, this
happens to me while I stand in front of few people to talk or to present in front of them. I have a
fear that I will talk something wrong or what I talk is not going to be correct. While I present I a
problem of not having an eye contact with the viewers which is a bad way of presentation.
Beside all this I also get tensed while I work on some task and get myself in over thinking. To
avoid this I am trying to overcome this problem and present and prepare well before my
presentation and taking parts in different activities to avoid fear in public.
B.

I have taken the step to choose accounting and finance as my degree because while I was
studying in my high-school I felt that accounting would be a good choice as it is going to give me
a tough challenge in studying an achieving this degree. I was also motivated by my high school
sir when he taught us about his experience in today's education, he was our accounts sir and he
was also doing his ACCA at that time. Which shows a motivation to study even after we have a
degree.my other motivation to study accounting and finance is to help my family's business with
my professionalism to achieve the goals of the company and make the company profitable in
coming future.

Taking this in mind I started my degree in the field of Accounting and Finance. During my third
year in this field I would be taking an internship and working with big 4 companies and see how
they work and learn to work like them. after my graduation, I am willing to work in my country of
resident in the country's bank and at a post of accountant or assistant accountant to achieve
experience and move up as I get more and more experience. I am looking to work in the state
bank as that is the main department of bank which finances other banks. A job for sales
assistant is helping to prepare financial statements and accounts, budgeting, managing ledgers
and processing invoices and preparing VAT returns. Mainly the job for an assistant accountant
is to provide whatever support to the senior manager or management accountant and finance
team.

Secondly, to achieve the long-term goal in career after I have gained knowledge and experience
in the industry of work, like after working for 5-6 years while working I am looking to pursue
higher studies which can be Master's in Accounting and Finance or ACCA for chartered
accountant. The job for the CFO develop and implement financial and accounting tools and
systems aligned with long-term business goals of a company or organization. Mostly chartered
accountants play a great role in providing professional advice for the company to aim in
maximizing profit. (agcas, 2015)

To achieve this career goals in future I have some of the basic characteristics of accountant that
are time management, as I have mentioned in my strengths that I like to finish up my work
before its due, an accountant must have an ability to work on task and finish them up on timely
manner. while I am not that professional in this task I am learning to do this while studying now
and doing my assignments. Riana T. 2014 mentioned that Good time-management skills come
together with strong organizational capabilities. As assistant accountant, a task given must be
handed over to senior manager or finance team at the given time limit

. Secondly, team-work has been my best positive strength in my whole career until now I have
been working in groups and completing task and managing group meeting and works that leads
to good team-work. While working with groups u have different prospective from different
members which are hard to handle and creates conflicts managing those things while in the
group show's understanding and problem solving skills. as I have volunteered in DTFF as
mentioned above I have worked with team and have a knowledge about how it is supposed to
be. in future career's working with basic strength is not enough these characteristics needs to
be polished and made stronger by working with different teams and characters. As an assistant
accountant or CFO, I must gain more knowledge in this years to help in my future.
C.

When we talk about the expectations of industry from accounting and finance graduates we see
that the industry requires professional skills from the graduates. The industry requires from the
accounts to get familiar with the new concepts quickly that involves adapting new information or
data entries to managing a project or meeting new company clients. Cory and Pruske (2012)
mentioned that accounting graduates entering in labor force had become a concern by
managers for the dissatisfaction of skills and knowledge proved by them. Employers dont only
concentrate on the academic grades of the graduate but they see if the person have intellectual
skills to apply their knowledge to practical situations. Taking note of this requirements I would be
developing professional accounting skills while doing my degree and by taking in professional
course that would help me to come up with the changes happening around the world.
Accounting doesnt change the final part it's just that the methods to reach the final part is
modified by the new innovations and technologies.

Howieson (2003) suggests that the suggestions of technological changes are that future
accountants would be transformed to knowledge employees. Even though a facility of
technology will be important for accountants, the most important skills will be
problem solving, analysis and communication. An assistant accountant should know how to
adopt get familiar to changes happening in the field of job, as they need to work with team and
provide information to company.

Referring to the table above the current capabilities I am having are basic for a undergraduate,
recently I am studying and I am gaining more knowledge for an accounting and finance student
need to have. During my 2nd and 3rd year of degree I will be more exposed to how does the
industry work and gain more professional skills for workforce. In my 3rd year I will also be given
a chance to work with reputed firms by my university during my internship, during the internship
I will be highly exposed to workforce and learn how they work and what all I need to improve in
future. Comparing the gap analysis between my skills and what are industries looking at there is
a lot of difference which shows that how professional I need to be for getting a job in company.
That there is a significant gap between the accounting skills demonstrated and the
accounting skills needed.

Albrecht (2002) states that skills in critical and analytical thinking, technology, teamwork and
communication each skill are important compared to the knowledge and profession in every
industry. According to my next skill that is team work in this every person need to professional
to have better communication skills between his employer's. looking at my capability I am
capable of communicating in the best way possible but the communication in an industry differ
we need to be quite professional and have a perfect body language and behaviour with our
seniors as working with short-term goal that is assistant accountant I need to have better
communication skill to work with my team and managers. Taking note about the long-term goal
which is CFO I will need to more specific and open communicator as the CFO needs to handle
the company accounts and look on to meeting with different higher authorities and communicate
about the company functions.

This above diagram illustrates my career goals after the graduation from the degree of
accounting and finance.

Firstly, after graduating I am applying for job in my country of resident Qatar within a small firm
or a banking firm where I hope to work in as an assistant accountant to learn under my senior
how thinks have to be done been an accountant. I will be working with the same firm for around
1-2 years until I have a perfect knowledge about the post that I am working for as an assistant
accountant, Secondly, I will try to move up higher from my post and work as senior accountant
or finance team leader to understand the role of a leader in managing the staff and the
company. while working after 5 years I would be applying for higher studies that can be master's
in accounting and finance to become more professional in workforce and have higher position at
work. The next target for me will be to achieve the CA qualification and become a CFO in some
of the reputed companies in Qatar.to become a CFO I would need an experience of atleast 10
years working as and senior accountant and financer. for this I will apply for international
accounting courses that will help me to learn about the worldwide accounting systems and the
ways they work for which I would be a professional in helping the company to take better
decisions depending on worldwide crisis and other issues. Well after achieving the position as a
CFO I will be learning new innovations and technological changes happening around the world
in future.

To conclude I would like to say nothing is impossible in life but a person who is willing to
achieve will work hard and get his position secured for himself. To become a CFO it takes time,
learning skills and hard work that will get your dreams fulfilled.
