The Balance of Teaching and Research. Are B-School Research Obsessed?

This article tells about the perspective of international business school accreditation by AACSB,
stands for Advances Association to Collegiate School of Business. Some pieces of opinion
thought that AACSB accreditation is so obsessed in research in business education. They
criticized about the lack of the tuition. This stigma maybe appeared because theoretically
AASBC educations mission is providing top-quality education.

education. Top quality education means the business school could ensure the graduates become
ready-to perform one day in their career. So, educational teaching and focus research have their
own impact in the outcomes. By research, the business faculty engages their student to do more

practice, and learning process in the faculty. Simply stated, how the business faculty research has
made a difference in their performance. That vast majority of research falls into one of three
areas: basic discovery; applied or integrative/ application; teaching and learning research.

Every leading business school which emphasizes this accreditation, should have established a
framework in which teaching is really important, and engagement with the world of professional
practice is a critical success factor for any business school. As we know, business is about skill
and experience. Students which interacted well in research field will face the real global
condition. This situation is so critical area for leading business school in every country.
