Time, Month and Zodiac Signs

Introduction

Since agriculture and farming were our ancestor's main occupation, they were interested in
finding out the right time for sowing and harvesting. So it was essential to study the seasonal
variations and the arrival of monsoons along with the planets and star patterns in the sky.

They began to keep records of these natural events cycle and marked the time of recurrence.
Planets are constantly in motion with respect to earth in the skies. The positions of Sun, Moon
and some planets close to earth can give important clues about some common fundamental
criterion between mathematics and astrology.

Some common fundamental criterion in mathematics and astrology

Number 1 to 9

The natural number system in mathematics has only 9 single digits from 1 to 9, it can be
stopped with 7 or 8, but why up to 9? because in astrology, there are 9 planets considered.

Number 12

In mathematics, the time has twelve months in a year, why not 10 or 11 months, but why up to
12? because in astrology, there are twelve signs considered in the zodiac and sun in each
sign is a month, therefore 12 months in a year.

Degree 360

1. The important reason to have degree of one complete circle to 360 is, because 360 is the
only number which has divisor of 60, 24, 12, 9 and 4. i.e. 4 directions / seasons, 9 planets, 12
zodiac signs, 24 hours, and 60 minutes / seconds.
2. The time of wheel has 360 degree, the number is chosen because it is readily divisible by
every number from 1 to 12 except 7 and 11. 360 is the only number has 24 divisors i.e. 1, 2,
3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10, 12, 15, 18, 20, 24, 30, 36, 40, 45, 60, 72, 90, 120, 180 and 360. This
property has many useful applications, such as dividing the world into established 24-hour
day convention. the number is approximately equal to 365 days and that it was rounded to
360 degree. i.e. 1 degree of movement of earth in its orbit is approx. equal to 1 day.

Time

1. The time can be defined as the rate of change of degree of rotation of earth towards its
orbit.
2. A minute can be defined as the 0.25 degree of rotation of earth towards its internal axis.

3. An hour can be defined as the 15 degree of rotation of earth towards its internal axis.
4. A day can be defined as the 360 degree of rotation of earth towards its internal axis.
5. A month is the time required for the sun to travel a sign or 30 degree in zodiac.
6. A year can be defined as the 360 degree of rotation of earth towards its orbit i.e. external
axis.

Conclusion:

Our Ancestors made mathematics initially to measure and quantify the 4 seasons / directions,
9 planets, 12 signs of zodiac, 24 hours of the day, 60 minutes in a hour, and 360 degree
revolution of earth makes a year, which is used in Astrology as its basics to study time for the
development of agriculture and farming.
