into each of the now empty sleeves at the tips (not the center holes) of
your green octahedron (6 sleeves times -4 empty connectors each=241
You are effectively building a little tetrahedron onto each of the eight faces
of the original octahedron. complete each up by placing a siI sleeve
connector at the top of each of the eight groups of three. Again use only
alternate 8leeves in the sil sleeve connectors. so that every other hole is
left empty.

It is very helpful once you have reached this point to f£el your model until
you can see 0 little tetrahedron on the SUrfaces of th.e octahedron. See also

Nett prepare for the next. phase of growth of your crystal model by taking
the 12 remaintng '516" short sticks and place 3 of the fivHleeve
connectors thru their center hole onto each little stide. Thus you will have
12 little assemblies With 3 rive sleeve connectors pushed tightly together
thru their center holes in the middle of the short sticks.

Now, tak1ng your dodecahedron back in hand. place a five sIded pyramid
like stellation on each face by placing a S red stick in each of the 12
groups of five empty sleeves. {60 total J red sticksl Use your prepared '5
sleeve connector groups. one on each tip of the 12 groups, but PLACE iHE .
RED snCKS INTO mE CENTER SID' OF FIVE SLEEVES. So that at each. new '5
sided tip you have a five sleeve connector tuuy used, with 1 empty
five-sleeve connector JUST INSIDE the red tips. 8Ild one pointing outward.

We will call the twelve sets of 3 five sleeve connectors, an INNER group. a
MIDDLE group. and an outer group. So now the MIDDLE group of nve sleeve
connectors is all fliled with the tips of the stellations from your
dodecahedron. (Arrange the inner empty '5-sleeves. one sticking out
between evf?ry pair of red 3" legs.)

Next. make an icosahedron by placing Y/J blue .,a connectors between ALL
the empty fiVe-sleeve connectors in the INNER group. So your blue tips WiU
all end up UNDERNFAm your red tips. Work slowly and gently: use a little

Lastly. you will use the Y/J gold wooden atlcks to complete the outer

yellow stiCks. but we have made them a little eJtra long. 80 that you can
easily trim them to length to make up for sllgbt dit'terences in the way the
connectors go together. Use your small Wire cutters to carefully trim each
wooden 8tlck to the right length to Just nicely fit betWeen all the remaining

Actually I spent childhood drawing a. small wagon to the


bookmobile that stopped occasionally in our tiny town. East Eden,
(just East of Eden we like to say). Days at the littl@ woodttn
school house were puntuated with ",ode} roc.kllt fli9nts <ilnd get.ting
the gard~n tractor stuck in the back woods.

High school was prassurizing and eye opening in a gevere and all
male, Franciscan Priest kind of environment.
Spending 51.1mmer in E.urope before entering the University of
Detroit" began a pattern for me which lasted many years, of
wandering the 910be on a kind of spiritua1 qURSt.. I looked at
the Seine River in P.ris through the bottom of a 91as$ bottom
boat, and faIt tha softness of the breezes in Lucerne,
Swi tzerl and ••• and wondered about mirac1 e cures and things of the
spirit in Lourdes, at a youno and impre~6ionable age.

In Detroit, I studied electrical engin~aring (which eventually


grew into electrical s~ills which occupy me very productively
now). However I went on to get my d~9r.e in Pliychology. 1
operated the polygraph at a gradUate p s y c h clinic and studied the
physiology 'o f emotion, along with el e(:t rical models of bodi 1 y
energetics. t also became -fascin·a ted with Jung and the origins of
symbol, dream and language, and went on to graduate work on a
vision which fall OW!8 me yet: to describe the c:o'mmon origin~ of
symbol, language, biology, and consciousness in the slimpl_, nece-
ssary, geometric el~g ... nce of standing waves in a uni'fied field.

At around th.t time, 1 b_gan to explore possible way~ to ~erye


and learn from industry. I b~9an in the complex many buttoned
5wit(:hboard/radio phone center of a messy Detroit real estate
firm. Later I became an income tax professional with various
firms. Then I entered quality control in mettalLlr9Y and crystal-
ography at a steel plant. Finally I \It,..
trained in Detroit, Ne-w
Yo'r k and Chicago, as a Systees Ana1yst with IBM. I was particu-
larly involved with their long lines telecommunications n.twork,
and embarked on a series of computer networking e>cperimltnts which
continue today.

IBM was before 9raduata .chool , the dean at University of Detroit


lured me back with scho1arship and intere6t. But it was not long
after going back to university, that contacts I had made while in
Chicago with IBM, le4d me to Clay~ont, a Fourth Way intantional
community in West Vtrgini.a. There I spent a summer learning
sacred 9ymnasticSl, meditation, and various intense exercises
desioned to unfold the "chakra n petals of intli'ntion and emotion
in the body.

Later I moved to a spiritual community in Marshfield Mass.


ostensibly to pursue gradUate independent studies. More
significant1y I became involv~d in the rich intellectual
resources of the Beston community, particularly MIT. A close
friend completing his Phd in physic~ there helped me to under-
stand the computer graphics at the HIT spacelab. That is whera I
first worked out the pentagonal nesting geometry for the golden
spiral c.as.cada which is the centerpiece of the Star Mother kits
and developed cur videotape.

Crystal Hill Farm began late in 1979 when lilY ~randfCithert an
old horse farmer, helped me locate and dream About a lovely
rural property on a high hilltop overlooking LAke Erie in Western

at Findhorn.

From 5tudents doing their agricultural summer cooperative
warl: studies from Alfred University, to Full Moon Meditations,
life at beautiful Crystal Hill has been full and stimulating.
Today a strong core group of friends called the "Network of
Light", founded their publ icaion here, networks ~eminars here at
the farm and elsewhere, is connected to many local dFJveloping
community and spiritu;al group~, dnd networking activities. The
friends share deep interests in areas like bodywork, inner
growth, initiation, new physics, etc.
Usually on a weekend there will be at least a music f9~t,
