ABSTRACT

Purpose: -The aim of this report was to minimize the Cost of Rajasthan roadways for various

destinations from Jaipur. Survey was conducted for collection of data from various depots of

Rajasthan Roadways (Sindhi Camp, Durgapura, Vaishali Nagar, Sodala, and Narayan Singh

Circle). We extracted that apart from Delhi route 10% approx. of other route seats goes vacant. It

is recommended that Rajasthan Roadways should continue with the same policy for Delhi buses

but should expand the time spam of departure of buses for other route (Kota, Jodhpur and

Udaipur)

Methodology/ design/ approach: - This research was conducted by face-to-face survey

administrated in RSRTC. Survey was conducted in 5 different depots of Jaipur. The survey

contains the below mention items:-

1. Number and types of buses

2. Capacity of each bus

3. Cost per Kilometer

4. Bus Fare

5. Number of passengers traveled in last 10 days

The Software QM for Windows has been used for solving the LP.
INTRODUCTION

Infrastructure forms the pillars of a state and bolsters its growth. A strong base culminates in

rapid progress and rich coffers. Roadways form an important component of the infrastructure.

RSRTC established on 1st October 1964 and is the largest provider of intercity bus transportation

in Rajasthan. The Corporation has its Head Quarters in Jaipur. The Corporation buses daily cover

over 1.5 million kilometers catering to nearly 1 million passengers through its network of over

13000 services to all-important places in Rajasthan and adjoining States of Gujarat, Haryana,

operating regular air-conditioned and super deluxe buses between Jaipur &Delhi.

1, 50,876 kilometers of roadways snakes through the length and breadth of Rajasthan. The state

government of Rajasthan boasts of well equipped National Highways, State Highways, spanning

nine thousand kilometers, important district roads 5,800 kilometers and several other roadways.

The national highways traverses 4,481 kilometers.

LITERATURE

Road Maps of Rajasthan have made clear distinct look of Rajasthan and its places of interest. It

gives the clear view of the major destinations linked by roadways system The good network

It daily covers more than 1.5 million kilometer. Running hours 24 hours a day and 30 days a

month. Corporation has 48 depots spread over the state. Rajasthan State Roadway Transportation

Corporation runs inter-state and intra-state buses that networks among the major tourist

destinations. Like

NH 3- Agra-Dholpur-Mumbai

NH 8- Delhi-Jaipur-Ajmer-Udaipur-Ahmedabad

NH 11- Agra-Bharatpur-Jaipur-Sikar-Bikaner

CASE STUDY

Like it or not, humans are creatures of habit. We tend to stay in uncomfortable situations that

we’ve grown used to, as long as they are tolerable. It’s when the situation becomes intolerable

that some of us begin experimenting with “change”. Rajasthan roadways have brought some

changes in the field of transportation. RSRTC have different categories of buses for all pockets.

Rajasthan roadway connects all cities and tourist places of the state. The trusty roads that are

61,520 in Kilometers connect every length and breadth of the state. Roadways have made much

easier for tourist to explore the city attraction with magnificence. The Rajasthan Roadways has a

fleet of 13,000 buses including Volvo, Mercedes, A/c Gold line, Express, Deluxe, Silver Line,

Star Line and Locals. Besides Rajasthan the buses covers near by state as well like Haryana,

Delhi, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh etc. In Rajasthan it covers almost all the routes, covering

majority of the tourist places

But for our study we have selected 4 major routes Delhi, Jodhpur, Kota and Udaipur as these

routes are heavily occupied by passengers. For these routes we have taken 4 classes of buses

Volvo, A/c Gold line, Deluxe and Express. RSRTC has an enormous in-house facility for

maintenance and engineering. Buses are fabricated with latest specifications. The major items of

consumption such as tyres, spare parts are purchased from the manufacturers and their

recognized original equipment manufacturer under the purchase policy. The scrap material like

condemned buses; spares and tyres are sold through open auction at Jaipur and Jodhpur.

We have chosen 4 types of buses from RSRTC. The capacity of buses, the number of trip

each bus makes to various destinations if it is put on that route and also the number of passengers

for 4 destinations and expenditure for one complete route as shown in following table:-

CONCLUSION

As per the objective of our project we have tried to minimize the transportation cost for

Rajasthan Roadways. And we come out with the following result,

29, 09,389-15, 31,200=13, 78,189

29, 09,389 is optimal value Z which we found through QM for window and 15, 13,200 is taken

from objective function.

RECOMMENDATIONS

It is recommended that Rajasthan Roadways should continue with the same policy for Delhi

buses but should expand the time spam of departure of buses for other route (Kota, Jodhpur and

Udaipur)
