Spray Patterns

This guide offers an overview to the many different nozzles and spray patterns offered by Atlantic Fountains. It
illustrates the basic classes and the wide variety of presentations available with water. For detailed information on
dimensions and flow requirements please consult the individual specification pages on our website.

Nozzle Basics
There are hundreds of different nozzle variations, but
Nozzle Classes they typically divide themselves into level dependent
and level independent types.
Level dependent

Filters
Be sure your system has adequate pump intake screening to reduce nozzle clogging. Larger orifices tend to clog
less, so perhaps a spray ring with fewer larger jets is a better choice if your pump horsepower is limited.

Pressure and Flow Requirements

Nozzle spec sheets typically state a flow rate and pressure for a particular spray height or size.
This is the pressure required at the nozzle, not at the pump. If your piping is complex or
inadequately sized it may require additional capacity at the pump. Flow into nozzles is assumed
to be non-turbulent, so locate them away from pipe fittings or use flow straightening vanes.

Most spray patterns are available in a range of inlet thread sizes and capacities. Material
selection is normally not an issue unless salt water or extreme chlorination is involved.
