Students should be able to identify which parts of the body are connected with each sense.
Students should also be able to put their senses into practice with an interactive group
activity. Students should be able to identify different foods, noises, smells, and objects
through their five senses.

STUDENT ASSESSMENT:
Observation teacher will observe students interacting with each other, while identifying the
five different senses and using their senses to complete questions.
Anecdotal notes teacher will take notes of any students who are still unsure about senses by
the end of the lesson.
Formative assessment teacher will collect worksheet from each work station to use as
evidence of use and understanding of their five senses.

- Complete interactive learning activity together about the five senses. Have
individual students to come to the front to answer the question about the senses.

- Have a couple of sounds play for the students to use their hearing to identify
what the sound is. Sounds such as a train, a bell, and a clock.

minutes 3. EXPLORATION (group/individual)
Activity 1 Table 1 - Touch students are to each touch an item in a container, then
identify what it is, before drawing a picture of it and circling which sense and part of the
body they used to identify the object.
Activity 2 Table 2 Taste students each have a taste of a food item with their eyes
closed, then identify what it is, before drawing a picture of it and circling which sense
and part of the body they used to identify the object.
Activity 3 Table 3 Smell students each spell an item, then identify what it is,
before drawing a picture of it and circling which sense and part of the body they used to
identify the object.
Activity 4 Floor circle Students work in pairs to play a matching game that includes
parts of the body and the senses. Students need to identify what each part of the body is
and say the word aloud before keeping the matched pair. Whichever team member has
three pairs wins the game.
