ABOUT NAC NASSCOM ASSESSMENT OF COMPETENCE

The emergence and growth of the IT-BPM industry gave a significant fillip to the Indian economy. Ever since,India has
exhibited leadership as globally sought service provider. As the industry looks to new strategies for expansion and
sustainable growth, a key area of focus is the continual generation of a relevant and high quality workforce.

SSC NASSCOM has worked to bring together leaders to create a standardized national assessment and certification
program - the NASSCOM Assessment of Competence (NAC)an online test that assesses candidates on the
basicemployability skills. NAC results are ideal for companies that wish to screen candidates during recruitment, and for
managers requiring a Training Needs Analysis. NAC acts as a culmination of competence preparation and professional skills
development.

NAC is endorsed by a wide range of organizations, including companies likeAccenture, Convergys, Concentrix, EXL,
Genpact, Infosys BPO, Wipro BPO, WNS.

CONCEPTUALIZATION OF NAC
Eligibility : Any candidate appearing in the 'final year' of an under-graduateprogram,or equivalent course.Candidate with a
minimum of 60% as aggregate in the Pre-Final Year is preffered.

Fee : The test fee to take the NAC is Rs.750 plus applicable taxes. For tests officially administered by government
universities/colleges and state-wide assessments, a subsidized fee of Rs.378inclusive of taxes, is applicable.

Note: Organizations interested in conducting this test may avail the service and infrastructure of full-fledged NAC Centers. A
surcharge of Rs.60 may be applied at such a center.

Results : Scores for the assessment are published on the NAC website two days from the conduct of the assessment.

NAC TEST MATRIX

The NAC has two parts: Skill and Domain Competencies assessment for which test takers may select from five choices of
employable functions. The test taker receives a score for each section within Part A and B.

1. Final year degree students from any discipline. A minimum of 60% as aggregate in the Pre-Final year is
preferred.
2. Fresh graduates with 60% aggregate in the UG program are preferred.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)

What are the skills being assessed in NAC?

NAC is an assessment of skills that enhances the candidates employability. This would include competencies in
language skills, communication skills, basic ICT, and so on. For further details, see "NAC Test Matrix" section
above.

What is the minimum educational qualification / eligibility required to participate in the program?

Test takers must be in the third year of the undergraduate program (any stream).

Do I need to undergo a NAC-prep course in order to succeed in the test?

SSC NASSCOM does not endorse or recommend any specific Training or Training Company for the preparation of
NAC. However,given that Part A of the NAC assesses skills of a fundamental nature,relevant modules are likely
covered in BPMtraining programs. While it may not be required, candidates may choose to attend such courses.

How can I take the test?

The NAC is open to current students at universities and colleges. A candidate can take the test via the following
methods if
o A college/university/institute (private or government) has offered the test to its candidates
o Astate government holding the test across its jurisdiction invites all students therein

Note: At present, one cannot take the test as an independent individual (retail model). Such a model is anticipated
in the future; please visit the site for updates.

Is there a test fee?

Under the college/university model Under the two currently-running models/approaches (as mentioned above)
may/may not require the candidate to pay for the test as this is completely at the discretion of the client organizing
for the test (e.g. state / college / university / institute). However, once the retail model is launched, candidates will
essentially have to pay the test fee.

Will people have access to NAC from small / Tier-II, III cities?

Any university/college/institute in any location may approach SSC NASSCOM and choose to hold the NAC, thus
rendering access to their students even small and Tier II/III cities.

How widely used is the NAC?

Over the past few years, NAC has been conducted in many states across India, along with a few independent
colleges/universities.

Can the test be administered without the internet?

Internet is mandatory for the conduct of the test
