FABRIZIO FREDA, the ex-president of Procter & Gamble's Global Snacks

division, has been named president and chief operating officer at Estee
Lauder Cos Inc. William P Lauder - the firm's current president and ceo
revealed to WWD that he will spend the next two years clearing the way for
Freda to take over as ceo in an unprecedented move for the company,
which remains heavily entrenched within the Lauder family. "What Fabrizio
brings is another flavor to our stew," Lauder explained. In a letter to
employees, he described Freda as "a highly talented and gifted executive
with extensive experience in the consumer products industry", adding: "He
has a strategic focus, a passion for innovation and a financially disciplined
approach. He is a true internationalist with extensive experience in Western
Europe, Asia and Latin America. He leads people with a warm, personal
style". Freda's appointment as president will take effect on March 3, when
