V. Course Description : This is a three (3) unit modular course, which focuses on the understanding of concepts, practices, and the acquisition of basic skills in various IT
Fundamentals 1 in teaching. The course includes introductory information, skills and applications to achieve basic technology literacy, including initial uses of internet and other
distance learning resources of teaching, learning and information access. It is carried out in three modules corresponding to the levels of technology competencies of students.
VI. General Objectives : Upon completion of this course, each student should be able to:
1. Explain the importance of computer competency in computerized society.
2. Explain the types and function of various hardware components.
3. Understand the purpose of System Software and Application software and discuss various examples of each.
4. Perform common tasks within an operating system (e.g. copy, rename, move, and delete files; format disks; store files, etc.).
5. Use a word processor to compete common word processing tasks (e.g. formatting text, setting tabs, changing margins, checking spelling).
6. Use spreadsheet to manipulate numbers, including the use of simple formulas and functions.
7. Create simple graphics and presentation using presentation software.
8. Communicate using e-mail.
9. Understand the importance of the Internet and the World Wide Web for research.
10. Use of cloud storage
11. Use Google forms to gather data online.
