The music video is a form of art, a way to

express your music with some really cool
visuals or a deep story in your song youre
trying to portray to the audience to just
verbally but visually. It is also used to
promote peoples music if they could not
make it for a live performance or even if
they were not maybe good enough they
could send in a music video and it would
be on television.

Play ice cube today was a good day and also play nines CR

Harley

The worlds first music video is Gus Visser

and his singing duck in 1925. There is not
much to say about this video apart from it is
a promotional video just to show off his
duck singing which he isnt actually.

Play Gus Visser and his singing duck music video

Harley

It is crazy to see where the music video has

come to today from this simple music
video. From a duck singing to the game
and 50 cent hate it or love it telling a true
story through no just music but also through
the visuals. From growing up in the streets to
buying his mum a new range rover.

On 1981august the 1st the first ever 24-hour

music video channel was launched known
as MTV.

First ever MTV episode clip being played

Harley

The buggles had the biggest moment in

music video history as they were the first
music video ever to be featured on MTV, this
helped the buggles song become very
popular and thousands across the world
watched this music video.

Harley

This historic moment will go d own in the

books. MTV created a whole new view on
music to be able to explain the song which
you have created through beautiful visuals
and get as creative as you like.

A few music videos in chronological order

Harley

Hip-In the 1970s, an underground urban

movement known as "hip hop" began to
develop in the South Bronx in New York City. It
focused on emceeing over "breakbeats", house
parties and neighbourhood block party events,
held outdoors. Usually the words that the MC
speaks tends to rhyme.
Play grandmaster flash the message, Africa Bambaataa & the
soul sonic force planet rock, Run DMC its like that and Kurtis
Blow the breaks.

Harley

The Sugarhill gang created one of the first

hip-hop songs to be published to the world
and theyre now seen as pioneers in the
Hip-Hop industry. This song was extremely
popular and if you show it anyone who
listens to hip-hop or even people who were
born in the 80s until 2000 the will know this
song, It has been in so many films as well
you may not know the name but you will
100 percent know the beat. Most recently,
it was featured in the film Everybody Wants
Some when they all rap it in the car this film
made over 5 million when it was released.

of them

Harley

Over the years, Hip-Hop has evolved

massively. It is now seen as one of the most
popular music genres which is incredible as
it started as an underground movement in
New York City.

Play videos of New York in the 1980s and old school Hip Hop
artists doing freestyles on the block

Harley

Hip-Hop has influenced not just America

but all over the world and where I am from
which is England we have a similar sort of
concept of music called Grime which is
music made by the poorer people talking
about their struggles in life or just in general
the united kingdom. Usually the videos of
the grime artists look homemade with an
old vhs and they use this to show them
using all resources to be able to make a
music video and hopefully make it big
coming up from nothing.

Old Grime Clips and Freetyles

Harley

Modern day music editing is the over

edited music videos filled with effects and
ultimate creativity. This style is dominating
not just the hip-hop industry today but also
taking it to the UK with it dominating the
grime genre. Huge artists such as Lil Uzi
Vert, Playboi Carti, and Lil Pump use this
style of editing in their music videos. In the
UK artists such as Skepta, AJ Tracey and
Novelist have also adopted this style and
incorporated it into their music videos.

Play Playboi Cartis magnolia, Skepta Man, ASAP Rocky RAF,

Lil Uzi Vert XO Tour Lif3, Novelist Endz, AJ Tracey LA4WEEK and
Lil Pump Boss Music video.

Harley

The creativity in these music videos are

absolutely incredible and make them
real works of art. Back in the start of Hip-
Hop it was recorded on old VHS making
it look like a homemade film and even
40 years later they now use the effect of
it looking like a VHS for creativity to give it
a vintage look.
Compare old hip-hop music video to todays music videos

Harley

The biggest video editors in America,

which produce these amazing videos, are
Hidji Films apart of AWGE which is ASAP
Rocky creative collection group, there
isnt much on the internet about these
two guys expect from there amazing
videos that they create.

Play Playboi Cartis Magnolia music video, Trouble in Tokyo

and N.O.V.A Knuckleheads Origami Music Video.

Harley

Another huge video producer, which is

blowing up in America, is Cole Bennett. He
has created music videos for Lil Pump,
Smokepurpp and Famous Dex. His style is
like Hidji Films but he seems to be creating
way more videos for rappers than Hidji films
and every video has a certain style to them
none of them are every seen as the same.
You can tell when it is a hidji film due to the
usage of effects in the videos usually has
lots of grain and always has the most
creative transitions between clips where it is
just a keying effects of he adds in some
mirroring and wave distortion then keying
the body of the person into the next frame

Play Lil Pump D-Rose music video, Play Smokepurpp Ski

Mask music video and Famous Dex & Lil Pump Talkin shit
music video

Harley

I love the effects that Cole Bennett uses in

his music videos just so the videos looks so
glitch and creative. You can get so
creative with music videos and especially
with this style and that is why I love it.

Contingency Plan
What are your plans for if something goes wrong? What back up actors,
locations and equipment do you have?
With my documentary, I am not going to be interviewing anyone so I am not
going to have trouble about the interviewee if he changes his mind and
doesnt want to do it this doesnt matter due to me not having an
interviewee.

This documentary is going to be heavily edited and a lot of audio will need to
be recorded. Therefore, for this I am going to use a microphone borrowed
from the Henley College. I am going to do this as soon as I can so I defiantly
have one and do not have to worry about it. However, if I come to late I can
just video myself on the camera and just cut out the video clip and keep the
audio however I must make sure I am speaking as clearly as I can and also try
and make it as quiet as I can with no background noise.

The editing software I am going to be using is premiere pro and I pay 16.99 a
month for a subscription for all adobe software. Now if something was to go
wrong with my software and it stopped working then I have a backup
software, which is Sony Vegas pro 10. Now it is not as good as premiere pro in
my opinion, as it is older and has less effects but I have taught myself to use
this.
