Association, assigned the Reverend Garnet King, Reverend John Cleare and
Reverend Harriet McDonald to assist with the operation of the church.
Eventually, Reverend Garnet King was commissioned by Reverend Charles
Thompson to oversee the mission of the work at Mt.Zion. At this time the late
Deacon Cleveland Young acted as Pastor and continued the leadership for
several years. However, due to ill health and his demised, the work was carried
on by faithful sisters in the church, namely the late sister Rhonda Bullard, sister
Emily Smith, sister Marge Deveaux and others..

During these years without a pastor, Mt Zion was enriched and impacted
spiritually by many missionaries, evangelist, and servants of God from the
Bahamas National Baptist Association.
Among them were: Moderator Stephen Thompson, then an evangelist who was
introduced by Rev. Dr. Garnet King; Since then Reverend Dr. Stephen
Thompson visited Mt/ Zion frequently for long period of time.

Youth Department: Minister Fred Seymour who was posted in Port Howe by the
National Insurance Board and worked in the Church for at least five years
until1986; and Evangelist Lethecia King, who continues to work in all areas of

Deaconess Bullard readily took on the challenge and worked tirelessly and
endlessly. She was recognized by the Bahamas Baptist Association in October
1998, 2003 and received the Settlement's 'Gate Keeper Award in 2007. Proverb

at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. She worked diligently in the Church as a member of
the Prayer Band and Choir. She represented the Church frequently at annual
conferences in New Providence.

sisters who labored to continue the work of the Church. She worked tediously
during the reconstruction of the Church. Deaconess Smith proved faithful to the
Call. She presently attends Transfiguration Baptist Church, where she was the
recipient of: The Oldest Active Member Award,
The Pastor's Award of Excellence 2009. She was recognized by the Bahamas
Baptist Association for Long and Dedicated Service.
At the age of ninety six Deaconess Smith continues to talk about the years she
served her Churches, her Association and her Lord.
