 Individual Reflective Journal

The fundamental objective of this journal is to regularly jot down the work done in the research

so that I can retrospect on it later. Moreover, while working on this project, I am learning and

changing my ideas based on the information. The topic of my project is the relationship between

the government and private airways. In my first assignment, I went through the various sites on

the internet to know the relationship between the public and private airways and decided to write

about Jet Airways which is considered as the most preferred private airway in the Indian

Subcontinent for domestic travels. Moreover, in the second assignment, I decided the type of

methodology; the effect government laws have on the private airways, limitations of research,

and scheduling the analysis.

In the first lecture, I understood about the nature, process and strategy of business research. I

have selected the relationship between public and private airways as my research topic to

understand the phenomena better. A business research is the amalgamation of values, theories,

practical consideration, epistemology and ontology. This study will help in understanding which

is better airways. I am researching Jet Airways, through this research, I will gain knowledge on

the various topics like why the prices of air tickets fluctuate, how the organisation works, why it

is essential to treat the passengers cordially and much more. For the understanding of the

research, I am going to accumulate information from various academic theories, existing

knowledge and internet. I have used deductive reasoning in this study. Deductive reasoning is

accepting the previous methods and finding the problem that is faced form these theories. So,

here I will collect the data from last research and journals, and figure out of there is an issue in

that method.

In the second lecture, research design and planning of the research project was discussed.

From various types of research design, in this project, I am going to use cross-sectional

configuration. It is a type of observational study that analyses data collected from previous

research, or a survey, at a specific point in time. To efficiently work on the project, I

scheduled my project. I organised the project by dividing it into different activities and

tasks. I prepared the schedule of the timetable by keeping in my mind the time-constraint

and giving sufficient time to every significant event of the project. The timeline of the

project mentions the starting and ending of every task. While going through the schedule, I

realised that there would be some research limitations. It can be possible that because of the

time constraint the quality of the research might not be as effective as it should be.

I have learnt about literature review and writing business research in the third lecture. I started

my literature review by finding solid data and their theoretical and methodological contributions

from the internet. From the analysis, it is perceived that the changes in government rule have an

impact on the private airways. The prices of the air flight depend on several factors like taxes,

petrol prices exceeding, and it changes with different rules in different countries. It has an

adverse impact on the airways revenue. The other thing is the importance of plagiarism.

Plagiarism is incorrect, both ethically and academically.

The fourth lecture was on Ethics and Legal Consideration in Business Research. I believe, every

human being should follow fundamental ethics while doing a research paper. It includes the right

to privacy, providing due credits from where the information is taken. Deception is also a part of

Ethics and Legal consideration. Deception is not providing the complete report in a research

paper. There is a legal consideration against non-ethical crimes called The 1998 Data Protection

Act'.

In this research, I have used both primary and secondary methodology of data collection. The

primary methodology is used to have a deeper understanding of the company. Through this, I can

add my perspective along with the content I have received from the internet. Apart from that, I

have used mixed research for this project. Mix research is an amalgamation of both qualitative

and quantitative analysis. The benefit of using qualitative research is that through this study I

will gain information from secondary data collection method. So, I will have the research of

scholars from all over the world. As the method of data collection is both primary and secondary,

it is essential to give the researcher its due credit. Through qualitative research, I can get in-depth

information about the airways. My mode of data will be through a survey. The passengers of Jet

Airways will be given a questionnaire, and they will be asked to fill it honestly. From this

research, I can understand the structure rather than generalise it. Because of qualitative research,

I will have passenger's viewpoint which is also essential. After the interviewing, focus groups

and language in qualitative research lecture, I learnt how to frame the questionnaire for the

survey. In the next lecture, I discovered about qualitative data analysis. So, after the review, I

will compare all varied answers and interpret them to a conclusion.

Moreover, I will also use quantitative research. I can gather much information about the service

provided by the company through an online survey. This survey will help in gaining the

customers perspective. It will also increase the accuracy as I will be directly interacting with

them. At the end of the research, I will do the secondary analysis. Secondary analysis is the study

of secondary data collection. The secondary analysis gives the opportunity to explore questions

of the research without the redundant process of collecting the data again so that it will save

much time.

I am expecting that the research will bring positive outcomes I feel I have learned a lot from

these two assignments and there is more to learn and observe. The study will give me a better

idea of the relationship between the public and private sector in the aviation industry. I guess

my personal development was enhanced from this subject and this will help me to deal with

stuff in the future profession. Moreover, to get the best outcome of this research, I will follow

the timetable and try to get maximum surveys from the passenger as it will help in the data

analysis at the end of the study.
