EXPERIENCE

BG Group - BG Tanzania LNG Project - Upstream: Cost Engineer, Tanzania. 1years 3months.
BG Group Plc was a British multi national Oil and Gas company with operations in circa 25 countries across Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe,
North America & South America. On February 15th 2016 BG Group plc ceased to exist as it was acquired by Royal Dutch Shell.

After working for three years with BG as a drilling cost engineer, the drilling campaign program came to an end in 2014 and as a result I sort
out for the next best opportunity within the asset. This led to a transition to the upstream project Cost Engineer role where I was providing finan-
cial analysis, accounting and management services for Block 1&4 Pre-feed upstream activities.

Duties:
- Ensured accurate cost tracking & cost control by issuing an Upstream VOWD (value of work done)report
- Created annual budgets by acquiring input from scope of works issued by engineers, contractors and contracts and procurement
- Issued a project progress Upstream monthly report to JV (Joint Venture) partners & the GOT (TPDC)
- Ensured correct coding of all requisitions, purchase orders, contracts, invoices, estimates, and ensuring these are updated and maintained in
the Cost Database

Achievements:
-Additional to the above duties, I conducted an audit on the Tanzanian Asset Project Management & Project Controls Standards in comparative
to the Group Project Management function. The audit was to ensure that both the Upstream & LNG Tanzania projects are in compliance with
what the Group Project Management function has set forth as industry best practice.
An action plan with recommendations & findings for the audit was formulated, presented to senior management & actions were tracked to close
out.
-Gained significant experience in working with internationally based contractors as well as was able to work in a team environment of mixed
experience, mixed nationality contractors and cost engineers.
-Extensive work experience with cost control tools such as WBS, SAP (Ledger), Project management of Change (MOC) register & the Risk Regis-
ter

BG Group: BG Tanzania offshore exploration Project: Drilling Cost Engineer, Tanzania. 3 years
I joined BG Tanzania without prior experience in Oil and Gas as a drilling cost engineer essentially providing Financial analysis, accounting &
management support for one of the single largest investments made by a multinational company in Tanzania. I managed a portfolio of $1.4
billion worth of Well and Project AFEs

Duties:
-Ensured accurate daily cost tracking of $100m individual offshore deep water exploration well AFEs (Authorization for Expenditure)
-Prepared weekly and monthly cost reports for JV partners and internal finance management team
-Created & tracked estimates for for LLIs(Long lead items) & CTRs (Cost Time Resource) for the entirety of the three years drilling campaign
-Prepared, reviewed & issued a monthly VOWD (Value of Work done) report to other key stakeholders as a cost control measure
-Controlled and monitored project total expenditure including verifying, checking and assigning appropriate WBS codes and claims from sup-
pliers, contractors & subcontractors to ensure that all project expenditures were captured and properly allocated
-Coordinated with Contracts and Procurement and contract Demand Managers on the creation and the issuance of additional contract value
requests for all Well Engineering contracts for future drilling campaigns and operations to the Contract Tender Board for approvals
-Developed capital costs (CAPEX) and operating costs (OPEX) estimates for onshore logistics and supply base services supporting offshore op-
erations, including a multi user shared facility port operation contractual agreement (MUFA) supporting four separate partner operations (Sta-
toil, Exxon Mobil, Ophir, Pavilion & Dominion)
-Supported internal and external audits, conducted by Blocks 1 & 4 JV partners as well as MUFA partners (Statoil, Petrobras, BG Tanzania,
Ophir, Dominion & Pavilion)
-Ensured the correct coding of all requisitions, purchase orders, contracts, invoices, estimates, and ensuring these are updated and maintained
in the Cost Database
-Reconciled wells cost at the end of the drilling campaign

Achievements:
- Provided accounting, cost tracking, budgeting and financial analysis support for nine (9) exploration wells, five (5) appraisal wells and five (5)
successful well tests. The total estimated final costs (EFC) for all 19 wells in comparison to total actual costs and approved total well AFEs were
all under the the approved 5% company contingency
-Designed and implemented key performance indicators (KPI) for Well Engineering finance operations by setting up a data analysis monitoring
scheme. This prompted the issuing of monthly purchase to pay reports to key stakeholders in contracts and procurement and finance depart-
ments. The report helped to identify potential areas of delay allowing each respective stakeholder to take action in order to improve the
process. Progress reports were presented on a bi-monthly basis to senior management. As a result of this initiative payment to vendors within
agreed upon payment terms was improved and consequently the likelihood of a default of service during operations by contractors was elimi-
nated.
-Gained substantial experience in offshore deepwater drilling operations as well as construction related cost engineering on Oil & Gas facilities
-HSE : demonstrated HSE leadership by partaking in quarterly HSE audits with a senior member of the leadership team

BG Group: Executive Aid to the Senior Management team & Asset General Manager 1.6 years
In conjunction with my role as a drilling cost engineer I was appointed by the Asset General manager to serve as an executive aid to the senior
management team. Where I Coordinated, supported and shadowed meetings with the senior management team for approximately one and a
half years which started off as an intimidating experience, however with time my confidence in the ability to articulate my thoughts as well as
speak in public to management increased sporadically. The idea behind the practice was to allow for appointed high potential individuals gain
exposure by networking with senior management as well as by gaining a better understanding of the Oil and Gas industry business as a collec-
tive by actively participating in sensitive meetings and/or bi-monthly reviews.

Achievements:
Given this was one of the 1st offshore deepwater gas discoveries in Tanzania, there was a need to bridge the knowledge gap understanding of
the industry locally therefore in effort of bridging the knowledge gap I used the Executive Aid role exposure to networking with senior man-
agement to introduce the Early career professionals Network chapter (ECPN) to the Tanzanian Asset.
ECPN is a knowledge sharing platform by SMEs (Subject Matter Experts) in the oil and Gas industry for its members who constitute of employ-
ees with 7 years or less experience in the Oil and Gas industry. Knowledge sharing came in the form of organized activities by ECPN board
members such as Lunch and Learns, Keynote breakfast speaker series & 4thirty talks. I was also able to secure funding from Group (Head of-
fice) and the funding was later equally matched by the East Africa Asset General manager. I also served as a chairperson and treasurer for the
Chapter.
