Read: Mark 2: 2 5
o Some men came, bringing to him a paralyzed man, carried by four
of them. 4 Since they could not get him to Jesus because of the
crowd, they made an opening in the roof above Jesus by digging
through it and then lowered the mat the man was lying on. 5 When
Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralyzed man, Son, your sins
are forgiven.
FAITH: The faith of the friends and the paralytic, was a strong faith; they
firmly believed that Jesus Christ both could and would heal him. A strong
faith regards no obstacles in pressing after Christ.
o Hebrews 11: 1 Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and
assurance about what we do not see.
o Faith is not about believing in the existence of God but it is the act
of living in the existence of God. FAITH WITHOUT WORKS IS DEAD!
James 2:19 You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the
demons believe thatand shudder. James goes on to say that a
person is considered righteous by what that faith has them do. To
walk by faith no by sight requires you to take the first step, its not
simply enough to believe the floor will hold you up.
o Every account of Gods power as recorded in the bible requires
action on the part of the believer:
Moses had to raise the rod to part the red sea
Noah had to build the ark
Naaman had to wash seven times in the river Jordan
The Hebrew boys had to walk into the fire
Daniel had to go into the lions den
The woman with the issue of blood had to reach out
The friends of the paralyzed man had to tear off the roof
o Isaiah 46: 4: I am He, I am He who will sustain you. I have made you
and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue.
o Isaiah 46:9-10 I am God and there is no other; I am God and there
is none like me. 10 I make known the end from the beginning, from
ancient times, what is still to come.
o Question: What are you doing with your Belief in God? Are your
actions showing that you believe in His word?
o Hebrews 11: 6 says without faith it is impossible to please God,
because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and
that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. The reward comes
because we earnestly seek him not because we only believe
o Here are some truths:
If you can only fit God into your schedule on a Sunday
morning something is wrong
If you can only fit God into your schedule on a Sunday
morning or during your daily devotions and then forget
about Him throughout the day something is wrong
If pursuing the things of God is a burden or an inconvenience
something is wrong
If your work life, school life, home life is separate from your
church life something is wrong
If you consider yourself to be a member of the body of Christ
and dont participate in the activities to build the community
of God something is wrong
If you think the positions you hold in the world is more
important than the position, power and authority you have
in Jesus, then something is wrong
o John 15: 5 I am the vine and you are the branches. The one who
remains in Me, and I in him, will bear much fruit. For apart from
Me you can do nothing.
o Remain and bear are verbs. It demands action. Remain (meaning:
endure, last, abide, go on, carry on, persist). Bear (meaning:
produce, yield, give, provide, supply, generate)
o In order to correct what is wrong it first begins with a renewal of
our minds. Romans 12:2 Do not conform to the pattern of this
world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then, you
will be able to test and approve what Gods will is His good,
pleasing and perfect will.
o We need to train our minds to seek earnestly after God so that you
will not yield to the way you feel. The bible says it is a constant
battle between the flesh and the spirit. The flesh seeks to tear you
and others down through conceit, provocations and envy. The spirit
seeks to build you up, to show you unconditional love, to know that
the Gods thoughts about you are so precious that they outnumber
all the grains of sand in all the world.
o Paul writes in Ephesians 1: 17
o I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious
Father, may give you the Spirit[f] of wisdom and revelation, so
that you may know him better. 18 I pray that the eyes of your
heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to
which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in
his holy people, 19 and his incomparably great power for us who
believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength 20 he
exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his
right hand in the heavenly realms, 21 far above all rule and
authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked,
not only in the present age but also in the one to come. 22 And
God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be
head over everything for the church,23 which is his body, the
fullness of him who fills everything in every way.
o This why David was able to say in Psalm 27: The Lord is My light
and my salvation, whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of
my life: of whom shall I be afraid?
o
o God through Jesus has already shown you His victory, what is your
response? Not just today but in the days ahead? Will you continue
to live a life of fear, worry, business, anxiety or
o 2 Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face
[a]

trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith
produces perseverance. 4 Let perseverance finish its work so that you
may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. 5 If any of you
lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all
without finding fault, and it will be given to you.
