1. Define psychology in your own words.

When I encounter the word psychology, the word that pops into my head is
Understanding. Psychology for me is the science that deals with explaining and understanding. It
is the science that gives words to the behavior we cannot comprehend. The science that gives us
the understanding why people act the way they are. Psychology, basically, is the tool that cracks
messages hidden behind our thoughts, dreams, perception, behavior, and emotions.

2. Why do you think psychology is important? What is the importance of psychology in

your certain field

Since Psychology is the science that deals with understanding or explaining mental
processes and behavior. It basically serves as a portal to us into deeper understanding ourselves
and the thoughts that lie in our minds. Psychology allows us to determine what the problem is
and how to address it, especially in reaching out to people who are experiencing mental health
issues.

For me, learning and knowing about psychology is vital in any field of work. In a workplace,
there are people you are obliged to work with, whether you find them easy to cope with or not, in
this matter alone comes the importance of Psychology. Psychology is essential because it gives
us a tighter grasp into understanding our colleagues and through that understanding, we discover
the ways on how we should react and socialize with each other.

3. What do you think of psychology before the discussion? And what do you think of
psychology after the discussion?

Even before I have found psychology as an interesting subject. Whenever I am browsing

through my Facebook feed, I often encounter pages that says psychology facts and I just found
myself reading the entire article. I guess it is in our nature to learn more about ourselves and
others. I find it amazing how even the tiniest gesture could mean so much more. The way we
stand, talk, walk and even the way we hold our bags could reveal so much more about us. At
first, I only thought of psychology as something that explains behavior and mental process but as
we have discussed it further, I now know that there is a lot more when it comes to it. Psychology
is not only into describing and understanding, but it also concerns itself with predicting,
changing and treating mental behavior and process.
4. Among the branches of psychology presented, what do you think are the three most
interesting branches of psychology and why?

Among the branches of psychology discussed, the three branches that interest me the
most are:
Dynamic/ Personality Psychology
- This branch of psychology deals with understanding the personality and its variation among
individuals. I find it interesting because through this we are able to comprehend our thoughts,
feelings, and behavior and how these influences the way see and react to things.

Social Psychology
- This branch of psychology interests me since it deals on how the society affects us. As
millennials, we are easily influenced by the society we lived in, whether it may be the latest trend
or challenge. So, for me, it is interesting to know how groups or other people influence us.

Forensic/Legal Psychology
- Forensic psychology involves the understanding of fundamental legal principles, particularly
with the regard to the witnesss testimony and the specific area of concern. Being able to watch
series that involves law and order such as how to get away with murder, it became interesting for
me to know how one is mentally ill just basing on their actions, their history and how they
answer the questions of the court.

5. What are other topics you wish to be discussed?

Other topics that I would like to be discussed are: understanding our own
personality. Knowing what our good and bad sides are and how we can address it. I would also
want to know more about mental illness and how we should deal with people experiencing
anxiety and depression.

6. Introduction about yourself.

Good day! I am Tiarra Mojel F. Manalo. Most of my friends call me Moj. I am 19
years old, single and currently undertaking the program B.S Geological Science and
Engineering. The previous term break was mostly dedicated to sleep and binge-watching series,
such as Sherlock, Rick and Morty and Detective Conan. I hope through this course I will learn
more on the nature of psychology and understand people more. I expect this class to be fun and
interactive one.

7. What are your questions to your teacher?

How does a psychologist treat patients experiencing psychological problems?
Why do people dream? And are the meanings behind dreams true?
When do we know that it is time to see a psychologist?
