YoucanchecktheTFmainfirmwareandtheNY64DfirmwareversionnumbersfromtheVersionfieldintheABOUT
screenoftheSYSTEMSETUPscreen.

Preparingfortheupdate

UpdatingtheTFseries/NY64Dfirmware
InstructionsforupdatingtheTFseriesfirmwareandtheNY64Dfirmwarearegivenbelow.
Bothfirmwarefiles(compressed)mustbedownloaded,andmustbeexpandedpriortoupdating.Inaddition,be
suretodisconnectallcablesfromthePRIMARY/SECONDARYconnectoroftheNY64D.

1. ConnecttheUSBflashdrive(formattedinFAT32)totheUSBconnectorofyourcomputer.

2. CopytheTF_updater_v***.bin(***indicatestheversionnumber)inthefolderextractedfromthedownloaded
zipfiletotherootdirectoryoftheUSBflashdrive.

3. IftheNY64Dfirmwareupdateisrequiredsimultaneously,alsocopythefile
FWUpdate_NY64D_v*****_sw***.dntinthefolderextractedfromthedownloadedzipfiletotheroot
directoryoftheUSBflashdrive.
Makesurethatnootherfiles,exceptthoserelevanttotheTFseriesandNY64Dfirmware,arecopiedtotheroot
directory.

4. RemovetheUSBflashdrivewhenthefileshavebeencopied.
FormoreinformationonremovingtheUSBflashdrive,refertotheowner'smanualsofyourcomputerandUSBflashdrive.

5. TurnoffthepowertotheTFseries.
Atthistime,besuretodisconnectallcablesfromthePRIMARY/SECONDARYconnectoroftheNY64D.

6. ConnecttheUSBflashdrivetotheTFUSBconnector(rightside),andthenturnonthepowertotheTFseries.
An"Updatefirmware?"messagewillbedisplayed.

NOTE
ThisdisplaywillnotappearifthecurrentversionoftheTFseriesandtheversionofthefirmwareupdatefilearethesame.
WhenonlyupdatingtheNY64D,thisdisplaywillnotappear,buttheUPDATEwindowwillappearafterthesplashscreen.

7. TouchtheUpdatebuttontostartloadingthefirmware.
CAUTION
DONOTOPERATEANYCONTROLOFTHECONSOLE(SWITCHES,KNOBS,FADERS,ETC.)WHILEUPDATINGTHEFIRMWARE.

TFseriesfirmwareistransferred(lastingabouttwominutes).

Afterfinishingthefiletransfer,theTFseriesreboots,andthesplashscreenisshown.

TheUPDATEwindowappears.

NOTE

WhenaNY64Disinstalledtotheexpansionslot,theNY64DfirmwareupdatefileintheUSBflashdrivewillnecessarilyopen

theUPDATEwindowregardlesstheversionofthefirmwareupdatefile.

WhenupdatingtheTFseriesfirmwarefromV1.xxtoV2.50orlater,theNY64DfirmwareupdaterequiresupdatingoftheTF

seriesfirmware.(TheNY64DfirmwareupdatewillbedisabledeveniftheNY64DfirmwareupdatefileexistsintheUSBflash

drive.)FinishupdatingtheTFseriesfirmwarefirst,andthenperformfromStep5again.

WhentheUPDATEwindowappears,theupdateoperationhasalreadystarted,theoperationhasreached100%completion

(Done),oramessagepromptingtoreboottheTFseriesappears;theseareallnormal.

Duringtheupdateprocess,thedisplayortheLEDindicatormayturnoff.Thisisnormal.

8. IfyouneedtoupdatetheNY64D,touchtheUpdatebutton.

Whilethismessageisshown,donotoperateanyoftheconsolecontrols.

NOTICE:
UpdatingtheNY64DfirmwareviatheTFseriesrequiresabout10minutes.Ifyouareinahurry,werecommend
updatingviaacomputer(DanteFirmwareUpdateManager;page7)
IftheNY64Dfirmwareupdatehasfailed,refertoAboutFailsafeMode(page9).

9. Whenamessageindicatingcompletionoftheupdateappears,removetheUSBflashdrive.

10. ReboottheTFseries.

11. ConfirmtheupdatedversionfromtheSYSTEMSETUP>ABOUTwindow.

Described below are the procedures to update the NY64D firmware with a computer (Dante Firmware Update
Manager).

Preparingfortheupdate
Makesureyouhavethefollowingitemsbeforestartingtheupdateprocedure.
AcomputermeetingthesystemrequirementsoftheDanteFirmwareUpdateManager
AnEthernetcable(CAT5eorhigherrecommended;straightthroughorcrossover.)

Updateproceduresequence
Makesuretoperformtheupdateinthefollowingsequence.IfyouplantoupdatemultipleNY64Dcards,repeat

1.InstalltheDanteFirmwareUpdateManager
Follow step 4 (Installing the Dante Firmware Update Manager) of the Dante Firmware Update Manager User
Guidetoinstalltheapplicationtoyourcomputer.

2.MakeTCP/IPsettingsoncomputer
SettheTCP/IPsettingof your computer to Obtain an IP address automatically(Windows) orUse DHCPserver
(Mac).

3.UpdatetheNY64Dfirmware
DescribedbelowaretheproceduresforupdatingtheNY64Dfirmware.
NOTE

FordetailedinstructionsontheDanteFirmwareUpdateManager,refertotheDanteFirmwareUpdateManagerUserGuide.

31.TurnthepoweroftheTFserieswithNY64Dtoon.

32. Connect the Dante [PRIMARY] connector of the NY64D card to the Ethernet connector on the computer

 usinganEthernetcable.
BesuretodirectlyconnectthecomputerandtheNY64D,anddonotconnectanyotherDantedevicetothe
computer.

33.ExecutetheDanteFirmwareUpdateManager,andupdatetheNY64Dfirmware.
Follow step 5 (Using the Dante Firmware Update Manager) of the Dante Firmware Update Manager User
Guidetoupdate.
UsethefirmwareupdatefileFWUpdate_NY64D_vxxxxx_swyyy.dnt(xxxxx,yyy:firmwareversion)

NOTICE:
Be sure to ensure compatibility of the update files with NY64D. If update files other than NY64D are
applied,thedevicewillbecomeinoperable.Ingeneral,donotcheckthe[OverrideDeviceMatching]option.
Ifthisoptionisleftunchecked,onlydevicesthatsupportthefilecanbeselected,ensuringthatupdatingthe
devicewithinvalidorwrongfilesisprevented.

NOTE
If the update is not completed after 5 minutes, or an update failure indication appears, click X at the upper
rightcorneroftheDanteFirmwareUpdateManagertoexittheprogramwithoutturningtheTFseriespower
off,andrestarttheprocedurefromthestep33.Iftheupdatestillfails,followtheinstructionsstatedinAbout
failsafemodetoperformtherecoveryoperation.

34.RestarttheTFseries.

Thefirmwareupdateisnowcomplete.

Aboutfailsafemode
The NY64D may become unusable due to data corruption if the Dante device is poweredoff during a firmware
update. To recover from such a state, the NY64D will enter "failsafe mode." To restore the NY64D from failsafe
mode,arecoveryimagemustbesentfromtheDanteFirmwareUpdateManager.
Afterthepoweristurnedon,iftheTFseriesdisplayindicatesamessageDanteModuleError!periodically,andthe
Danteversionisdisplayedas0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 0.0.0,itmaybethattheNY64Disinfailsafemode.
UseDanteControllertocheckwhethertheNY64Disinfailsafemode.TheNY64Dinfailsafemodeisshownasa
reddevicenameinthenetworkgridviewofDanteController(version3.1.xorlater).

RecoveryoftheNY64D
DescribedbelowaretheprocedurestorecovertheNY64D.
1.TurnoffthepowertotheTFseriesinstalledwiththeNY64D.

2.SeparatetheNY64DfromtheDantenetwork.

3.ConnecttheDante[PRIMARY]connectoroftheNY64DtotheEthernetconnectoronthecomputerusingan
Ethernetcable.
In some cases, an error may occur during recovery if you are going through a network switch. Connect the
computerwiththeNY64Dinaonetooneconnection.

4.TurnonthepowertotheTFserieswithNY64D.

5.Disableallbutoneofthenetworkinterfacesonyourcomputer.

 YoushouldalsodisablethewirelessLAN.

6.ExecutetheDanteFirmwareUpdateManagertousefailsaferecovery.
For more detailed instructions, refer to step 9 (Using the failsafe recovery) of the Dante Firmware Update
ManagerUserGuide.

7.ExittheDanteFirmware Update Manager, andwait for two minutes beforeturningoff the powertotheTF
serieswithNY64D.
Afterrecovery,restartingtheNY64Dtakesawhile.IfyoupowerofftheTFseriesbeforerestartiscompleted,the
data of the NY64D will be corrupted, and you will have to perform the recovery once again. Start the Dante
Controller,andifthedevicenameisshowninblack,itissafetoturnoffthepower.

8.UpdatetheNY64Dfirmware.
After recovery, the NY64D firmware will need to be updated to the latest version. To do this, follow the
instructionsonpage7.

Therecoveryisnowcomplete.
