Thanks for picking up the error in the assessment
outline ! It is nice to have a second pair of eyes on
it.
You moved around the class well and kept tab of
the progress of individuals, offering sensible advice
and rearranging the students when they were
distracting each other. Your explanation to them,
and the warning were appropriate and they did not
argue such a reasonable request.
You are supporting their learning using moodle and
daymap and by contacting absent students and
sending effective reminders.
You note any problems and quickly seek to rectify
them.
You are looking ahead and adjusting plans in a
useful way, based on the progress the students are
making.
You negotiated the deal with the stressed students
well at the start of the lesson. You listened carefully
and set up a reasonable compromise that they
accepted positively. Exactly what I would have
suggested.
Sometimes it is helpful to read short sections of
the text out loud, especially where there are
some more complex vocab / concepts and check
their understanding. Hearing the pronunciation
of new words, and the flow of sentences they
have in front of them is useful.
Ali and Abdul are really
struggling when you observe
them writing, as they are trying
to mask their lower ability. It
takes a lot of encouragement
and patience to help with this.
Lets hope it they can keep
trying and continue to improve
with extended effort and
application. Maybe some
sentence starters for them if
needed ( further, detailed
scaffolding ).
You could always revisit the
example when you do the
review of evaluative language to
see how it could be improved
even more and very word
choices. Same with connectives
etc too
Flexibility in SACE allowed Abdul
to do a section of work orally to
achieve a pass grade ( record).
