B- Professional Information
Aims:
Organizational behavior (OB) focuses on the complexity of human behavior at the workplace. The course
presents basic ideas and theories from the behavioral sciences as they apply to human behavior in
organizations. Topics covered in the course focus on exploring the complexity of human behavior at the
workplace and reviewing the applicability of western OB theories to the Egyptian/Arab workplace. In
addition to that, the course helps students to read and write in the area of OB and develop their
interpersonal skills as potential future managers.

Intended Learning outcomes:

By the end of the course the student will be able to:

a- Knowledge & Understanding


a1 Recognize the importance of interpersonal skills in the workplace.
a.2 Recognize the foundation of individual behavior: personality and values.
a.3 Describe the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator of personality and how it predicts behavior
at work.
a.4 Explain the attribution theory and the three determinants of attribution.
a.5 Explain the common decision making biases or error.

a.6 Distinguish emotions, moods and their sources.


a.7 Identify the five stages of group development and the role requirements in different
situations.
a.8 Identify the main function and process of communication.
a.9 Identify forces that act as stimulants to change and contrast planned and unplanned
change.
a.10 Define stress; identify its sources and the organizational approaches to managing
stress.

b- Professional & Practical skills

b.1 Interpret the type of personality using the Myers-Briggs personality test.
b.2 Show the impact of different types of personalities on group performance and decision-
making.
b.3 Apply attribution theory to understand differences in perceptions of the same situation
am ong different individuals.
b.4Apply theories and concepts of perceptions to understand individuals behavior and b.5
Show decision-making process.
b.6 Practice group-decision making techniques.
b.7 Examine the strengths and weaknesses of own groups performance.
b.8 Illustrate all the three levels of analysis in OB to each other.
