List of thermostat switching values

This Servicing Information supersedes Circular no. 16/99

Notes on the table

o Cold Off and On is measured with the control at the highest setting (as far as it will go
to the right).
o Warm Off and On is measured with the control at the lowest setting (as far as it will
go to the left).
o Signal above Cold On/Warm On: The alarm contact closes as soon as the
temperature at the sensor has risen above the set temperature by the corresponding
amount.
Example: If Warm On is -15C and Signal above Cold On/Warm On is 4C, the
alarm triggers at -11C.
o Defrost is the switch-on value for thermostats with a semi-automatic defrost function.

Important notes on checking the switching value

o Always use an accurate digital thermometer (min. 1C accuracy) to measure the

temperature.
o There must always be good thermal contact between the measuring sensor on your
thermometer and the immediate sensor point on the thermostat.
o When measuring the switch-off value, greater tolerances may occur as a result of the
thermal contact with your measuring sensor.
o Thermostats should always be checked with the control at the highest setting so that
the appliance is definitely in switching mode.

Replacement thermostats

Please note that replacement thermostats must always have the same switching values as
the original thermostat.
